Bentley tops Dapper Dan field

PITTSBURGH (AP) _ John Mark Bentley of North Carolina’s Newland High School takes a 144-0 record into the Dapper Dan Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Wrestling Classic on Saturday.

Bentley, a four-time North Carolina state champion, will wrestle for the United States All-Star Team in the feature match against the Pennsylvania All-Stars at the University of Pittsburgh’s Fitzgerald Field House.

His opponent in the 140-pound bout is Jamarr Billman, a two-time Pennsylvania champion from Easton High School. Billman is 141-17.

Bentley is one of six four-time champions on the U.S. All-Star Team.

Jeremiah Rogers (173-20), a four-time Vermont champion from Mount Anthony High School, will face Trap McCormack (138-4), a three-time Pennsylvania champion from Bald Eagle Nittany High School, in the 112-pound bout.

Chad Erickson (191-15), a four-time Minnesota champion from Apple Valley High School, is paired against Bryan Klass (131-26), a one-time Pennsylvania champion from Wilson High School, in the 130-pound bout.

Mike Zadick (153-1), a four-time Montana champion from Great Falls, will wrestle in the 135-pound bout against Bryan Synder (142-12), a one-time Pennsylvania champion from Easton High School.

Joe Carr Jr. (242-3), a four-time Kentucky champion from Woodford County High School, will face Brian Burrows (143-13), a two-time Pennsylvania champion from Hempfield High School, in the 145-pound bout.

Cael Sanderson (121-3), a four-time Utah champion from Wasatch High School, is paired against Joe Daugherty (99-27), a one-time Pennsylvania champion from Manheim Central High School, in the 171-pound bout.
