Darlington County Sheriff’s deputy injured in crash with 18-wheeler

DARLINGTON, S.C. -- A Darlington County Sheriff’s deputy was injured when their cruiser was struck by a tractor-trailer.

The deputy was traveling on Timmonsville Highway toward Interstate 20 from Darlington and was attempting a left turn into a driveway near Dewitt Circle when a tractor-trailer, traveling the same direction, crossed the double yellow line and hit the side of the cruiser, according to a release issued by the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy was transported to a Pee Dee area hospital and is expected to be OK, according to the release.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
