STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Police in Mississippi say a man accused of dozens of car burglaries was arrested after his car was stopped for a broken taillight.

Twenty-four-year-old Jonathan Emerson's bond was set at $15,000 for three felony drug charges in Starkville, and $625,000 on 25 counts of car burglary in Oktibbeha (awk-TIHB'-ee-hah) County.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Starkville Police Officer Parker Madeen testified at an initial court appearance Wednesday that he stopped 24-year-old Jonathan Emerson of Starkville because of the light and because the car was swerving.

WTVA-TV reports that property taken from one of the burglarized vehicles has been recovered.

It was not clear whether Emerson had an attorney who could comment on the case.
