Nephew of Colombian President Found Slain in L.A.-Area Apartment
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ The nephew of Colombian President Belisario Betancur was found slain in his own apartment, apparently beaten to death during a robbery, police said.
The body, found Thursday night in the apartment in Reseda, about 20 miles northwest of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley, was identified Friday as that of Jaime Alberto Buritica, 30, whose aunt is married to Betancur, police Lt. William Gaida said.
No one has been arrested in the slaying, he said.
Buritica, who recently opened a dry-cleaning firm with a partner, had lived in California since he was a child, Gaida said.
