While on patrol Monday, a Bexar County Sheriff’s deputy discovered 11 undocumented immigrants believed to be victims of a human trafficking ring, officials said.

The deputy was on patrol near Rittiman Road and Goldfield on the Northeast Side when he observed a large group of men and women standing near a semi-trailer truck. Several of them scattered when they saw the deputy and others hid in nearby shrubbery, prompting the deputy to investigate.

Authorities determined that all of the individuals were likely undocumented migrants from Mexico who had not been given food or water in more than two days.
