VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Marques Townes had 18 points as Loyola of Chicago narrowly beat Valparaiso 56-51 on Sunday.
Cameron Krutwig had 12 points for Loyola of Chicago (16-9, 9-3 Missouri Valley Conference). Aher Uguak added seven rebounds.
Javon Freeman-Liberty had 17 points for the Crusaders (13-12, 6-6). Deion Lavender added 12 points. Jaume Sorolla had three blocks.
Krutwig, Loyola-Chicago smash S Illinois 75-50
CHICAGO (AP) — Cameron Krutwig scored 22 points and Loyola-Chicago won for the sixth time in its last eight games beating Southern Illinois 75-50 on Sunday to stay atop the Missouri Valley Conference standings.
After Marcus Bartley's 3-pointer gave the Salukis a 12-7 lead, Loyola-Chicago erupted for a 23-0 run. Clayton Custer and Krutwig each scored six points and Aher Uguak five in the spurt.

Loyola-Chicago (11-7, 4-1) rebounded from a 67-48 loss at Evansville in their last outing, and is now tied atop the Missouri Valley Conference standings with the Crusaders (11-7, 4-1), who had its five-game win streak snapped.

Krutwig made all seven of his field goals and was 4 of 7 from the free-throw line. Aher Uguak and Marques Townes added 15 points apiece, and Clayton Custer chipped in 14 for Loyola-Chicago (2-1), which shot 52 percent (30 of 58) from the floor.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Sam Logwood scored 17 points and New Mexico beat Air Force 74-67 on Wednesday night for the Falcons' third straight loss.
Neither team led by more than six after six lead changes until Aher Uguak's 3-point play on the heels of Dane Kuiper's back-to-back 3-pointers put the Lobos up 60-53 with 9:44 left to play. Frank Toohey hit a layup and Air Force closed to 65-63, then Hayden Graham tied it with a layup with 2:06 left.
