Wright State catches fire in 2nd half, tops Oakland 76-62
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Loudon Love scored 18 points with 10 rebounds and two steals, helping Wright State take down Oakland 76-62 Thursday night and the battle for second place in the Horizon League was settled early in the second half.
Wright State (14-11, 8-4) was trailing 41-35 coming out of halftime but, sparked by an Alan Vest 3-pointer, the Raiders scored 13 points and held Oakland scoreless for five minutes, taking a double-digit lead to win going away.
Wampler, Wright State pull away from IUPUI 79-74
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Bill Wampler led a balanced attack with 16 points and Wright State posted a 79-74 win on Sunday when IUPUI went cold down the stretch.
Travell Washington’s 3 lifts UIC over Wright State
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Travell Washington scored 13 points Friday night and hit the winning 3-pointer with a second left in overtime to help Illinois-Chicago beat Wright State 75-72 in the Horizon League opener for both teams.
Marcus Ottey had 23 points and eight rebounds, and Tarkus Ferguson added 18 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Flames (7-7).
Kent State wins 6th straight, 83-76 over Wright State
KENT, Ohio (AP) — Jaylin Walker had 25 points and seven rebounds and hit three 3-pointers to help Kent State win its sixth straight in an 83-76 victory over Wright State on Saturday.
The Golden Flashes (8-1) took the lead for good at 75-74 on Antonio Williams' layup with 2:13 left in the game. That sparked an 8-0 run as the Raiders (4-6) missed four consecutive 3-point attempts and Kent State led 81-74 with 14 seconds to go.
Miami (Ohio) downs Wright State 65-62 with buzzer-beater
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Bam Bowman scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds, Isaiah Coleman-Lands hit a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, and Miami (Ohio) beat Wright State 65-62 on Wednesday night.
Coleman-Lands sank a contested 3 from the wing in between two defenders and was carried around the court by his jubilant teammates.
Loyola-Chicago holds off Wright State 84-80
CHICAGO (AP) — Bruno Skokna made a key steal with 10 seconds left and Marques Townes secured it with 1 of 2 free throws as Loyola-Chicago beat Wright State 84-80 in the season opener for both teams on Friday night.
The Ramblers led for the entire second half but never pulled away and Wright State was able to close within two on Mark Hughes' 3-pointer with 26 seconds left.
