PRAGUE (AP) — Barbora Strycova and Katerina Siniakova won their singles for the Czech Republic to take a commanding 2-0 over the defending champion United States in the Fed Cup final on Saturday.
Strycova rallied from a set down to defeat Sofia Kenin 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-4.
Siniakova stretched the advantage by dispatching Alison Riske 6-3, 7-6 (2) to the delight of more than 14,000 fans at Prague's O2 Arena.
Pliskova out of Fed Cup final, Krejcikova in for Czechs
PRAGUE (AP) — World No. 8 Karolina Pliskova has been ruled out of the Czech Republic team in the Fed Cup final against the defending champion United States next weekend due to calf muscle and wrist injuries.
The Czech team says Pliskova was injured last week during the WTA Finals in Singapore, where she lost to Sloane Stephens of the United States in the semifinals.

The U.S. Open champion, who upset Serena Williams in the final in New York this month, won her ninth straight match Friday, beating Barbora Strycova 6-3, 6-4.
"This was my third time playing her, and each time it was very close, so I knew she was very good," said the third-seeded Osaka, the first Japanese player to win a Grand Slam singles title.

The retractable roof on Arthur Ashe Stadium was closed because of light rain during the second set of defending U.S. Open champion Sloane Stephens' third-round match against Victoria Azarenka.
The match was delayed for less than 10 minutes.
Play continued on other courts without interruption, including the new Louis Armstrong Stadium, which has a retractable roof, too.
Suarez Navarro, Sabalenka reach Connecticut Open final
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Carla Suarez Navarro will play for the Connecticut Open championship, despite completing just one full match this week and playing less than four sets.
The 29-year-old Spaniard advanced Friday when Monica Puig of Puerto Rico retired during their first set of their semifinal with an abdominal injury.

Having won 20 doubles tournaments, the 26th-ranked Czech player improved to 2-6 in career singles finals after winning her maiden title in Quebec City in 2011.
