FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — With just a few days left in the preseason, the Atlanta Falcons have brought in former Pro Bowler Blair Walsh to compete for their kicking job.
Seahawks sign K Sebastian Janikowski, QB Stephen Morris
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks are hoping Sebastian Janikowski can solve their kicking issues.
The team signed Janikowski on Friday amid a number of moves.
Seattle also signed quarterback Stephen Morris to have another arm on the roster behind Russell Wilson. Running back J.D. McKissic and defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson signed their exclusive rights free agent contracts for the 2018 season.

Vikings’ Teddy Bridgewater returns to playoffs in a different role, but with same perspective: ‘I just want us to win’
Theres a great coffee table sports book, Ive long contended, to be made out of stories that would have been published had last-minute events not changed the outcome of a game and banished those stories to the dustbin of history.
Vikings kicker Kai Forbath is cool, calm and hoping to dodge playoff infamy
Mike Zimmer has tools in his Winter Park office to thwart the ghosts of Vikings playoff past a crystal ball and a wood spirit gifted by good samaritans.
He makes nothing of a so-called Vikings curse, but if there is one, it has rested on the foot of kickers.
Seahawks sign former Jags K Jason Myers to future contract
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The search for a kicker in Seattle now includes former Jacksonville kicker Jason Myers after he signed a reserve/future contract with the Seahawks.
The deal with Myers was completed Wednesday. Seattle was able to sign Myers now because he was cut by Jacksonville earlier this year and was not with any other team at the conclusion of the regular season.
Dawson kicks Cardinals past Seahawks 26-24
SEATTLE (AP) — If this was Bruce Arians' final game with the Arizona Cardinals, he went out in perfect fashion with a win in the place he called "our home field."
"Thanks y'all for coming to my house," Arians cracked on Sunday.
Phil Dawson kicked four field goals, the last from 42 yards with 2:21 left, Blair Walsh missed a 48-yard attempt with 32 seconds left and the Cardinals beat the Seattle Seahawks 26-24 on Sunday to close the season.
With Rams looming, Seahawks ready to move on from 30-24 loss
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Seattle coach Pete Carroll is ready to move on.
He wants to ignore what might have been in a 30-24 loss at Jacksonville. He wants to erase Blair Walsh's latest missed field goal. He wants to forget about those three turnovers and that ugly ending that included two ejections.
Short-handed Seahawks no longer have same leeway for errors
SEATTLE (AP) — There used to be some latitude for the Seattle Seahawks that if something went wrong, they had the skill to persevere.
That margin may be gone. Now, one poor decision or bad break may be too much to overcome for a talented team that has been beset by injuries to key players.
Walsh’s missed kick, failed fake FG cost Seahawks vs Falcons
SEATTLE (AP) — When it left his foot, Blair Walsh thought his potential tying kick was good and the Seattle Seahawks were headed to overtime with the chance to erase a questionable decision from earlier in the game.
Ryan’s 2 TD passes enough as Falcons hold off Seahawks 34-31
SEATTLE (AP) — Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons did enough through 3 ½ quarters that even the best comeback attempt by Russell Wilson fell short this time.
A couple of yards short to be exact.
Ryan threw a pair of touchdown passes, Adrian Clayborn returned a fumble 10 yards for a score and the Falcons watched Blair Walsh's 52-yard field goal attempt in the final seconds fall short, holding off the Seattle Seahawks for a 34-31 win on Monday night.
NFL HALFWAY: Strong as ever, kickers remain a key to success
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — When the Minnesota Vikings signed Kai Forbath last season, he'd gone 10½ months without kicking in a meaningful game.
Seahawks had to know Blair Walsh issues would surface, but will they keep Seattle out of the playoffs?
The top seven seeds in the NFC heading into Week 10 are, in order, the Eagles, Saints, Vikings, Rams, Panthers, Cowboys and Seahawks.
Only six NFC teams make the playoffs, so the Seahawks are on the outside looking in. Fortunately for them, Blair Walsh has only temporarily kicked them wide left of the playoff picture.
The duck-hook is a little more deadly in the finality of mid-January.
Seahawks with no time to lament growing list of issues
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Maybe it's best the Seattle Seahawks don't have time to dwell on what went wrong.
By the time Monday afternoon rolled around, the Seahawks were trying to put the mistakes of Sunday's 17-14 loss to Washington behind them, knowing they had barely 72 hours to prepare for Thursday's divisional game at Arizona.
Forbath having a field (goal) day for Vikings
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Forced by Blair Walsh's struggles to switch kickers last year, the Minnesota Vikings have their field goal tries back on track with Kai Forbath.
Those pesky extra points are, well, another matter. Forbath's career-most six field goals in as many attempts, including two from 50-plus yards, were the difference for the Vikings in their 24-16 victory over Baltimore on Sunday.
The Latest: Colts hold surprising 15-10 lead over Seahawks
The Latest on Week 4 of the NFL (all times EDT):
The Indianapolis Colts have a 15-10 lead over the Seattle Seahawks at halftime on Sunday night thanks to a solid first half from Jacoby Brissett.
Brissett was 14 of 20 for 142 yards and an 18-yard touchdown to Donte Moncrief with 25 seconds left in the half. Brissett's one mistake was an underthrown pass that Justin Coleman intercepted and returned 28 yards for Seattle's only touchdown.
Through the first six quarters of their respective campaigns, the Seahawks and 49ers have yet to reach the end zone.
Not that the two NFC West rivals haven’t had their chances today at CenturyLink Field.
Seattle’s offense looked efficient on its opening drive as it dinked and dunked its way to San Francisco’s 7-yard line. Seattle’s third-down woes continued, however, as the 68-yard, 16- play drive ultimately stalled and settled for a Blair Walsh field goal.

Vikings kicker competition: Will winner be Forbath or Koehn?
MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Whether they pick Kai Forbath or Marshall Koehn, the Minnesota Vikings badly need their kicker to come through after all those points squandered last season.
Koehn sure delivered last year.
While Forbath was settling in after a midseason switch from Blair Walsh in Minnesota, Koehn was making carpet and tile drop-offs for a flooring company in eastern Iowa. He lived with his parents and tried to keep his leg, mind and body in shape on the side between deliveries.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks have added depth in the secondary by signing defensive back Bradley McDougald.

Seahawks sign former Minnesota kicker Blair Walsh
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seahawks signed former Minnesota kicker Blair Walsh on Thursday, the strongest sign yet that Seattle may be moving on from Steven Hauschka.
Hauschka will be a free agent when the new league year begins next month and after a season of inconsistency the Seahawks are looking at other options.
Vikings add kicker Koehn, punter Symmank to offseason roster
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have signed kicker Marshall Koehn and punter Taylor Symmank to reserve/future contracts, signaling interest in preseason competition for the specialists.
The quirkiest sports moments of 2016
After the curses and death threats and groans across Minnesota from Mankato to International Falls, Blair Walsh needed a little love.
He found it in the oddest of places — the first-grade class of Northpoint Elementary in Blaine, a Minneapolis suburb.
New kicker Kai Forbath finds familiar crew with Vikings
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Kai Forbath spent his first morning in Minnesota at the stadium where he'll make his debut with the Vikings, testing his footing on the artificial turf and gawking a bit at the light-filled, luxurious building that will give him the advantage of a controlled climate.
Such conditions are every kicker's preference. The same goes for the fresh start Forbath will be afforded with his new team and its discouraged fan base.
Vikings make Forbath signing official after cutting Walsh
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have finalized their contract with kicker Kai Forbath, their replacement for Blair Walsh.
Minnesota Vikings cut struggling kicker Blair Walsh
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Blair Walsh's five seasons in Minnesota were filled with big-time makes and big-time misses.
With the skidding Vikings desperate to save their season, they simply couldn't wait for Walsh to pull himself out of another rut. Minnesota cut Walsh on Tuesday, two days after he missed his league-leading fourth extra point in a 26-20 loss to Washington.
Zimmer noncommittal on Vikings kicker Blair Walsh
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — The losses keep coming and the pressure is growing for the Minnesota Vikings.
You can see it on kicker Blair Walsh, who missed his fourth extra point of the season in a 26-20 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
You can see it in the desperate defense, the unit that carried the Vikings to a 5-0 start on the strength of dynamic playmaking, a relentless pass rush and a group that turned turnovers into touchdowns.
Coach: Kicker tryouts ‘lit a fire’ under Vikings’ Walsh
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh has been tight-lipped in recent days about the struggles that prompted the team to bring in free agents for tryouts this week.
Special teams coordinator Mike Priefer has been with Walsh for all five of his seasons in the league, so if anyone knows how the kicker is dealing with the criticism, Priefer might be the guy.
Zimmer on struggling Walsh: ‘I still believe in him’
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Blair Walsh remained outside after the rest of the Minnesota Vikings had finished practicing for the day, booming kick after kick into the amber late-afternoon sky and through the uprights.
The well-paid, highly scrutinized job was still his Wednesday and for the foreseeable future, after the Vikings hosted six free agents for a tryout and passed on the opportunity to sign one.
Movies tend to portray the terror of ghosts through disfigurement. In that regard, Blair Walsh has been out to prove Hollywood wrong this football season.
Walsh’s ghost comes in the form of the infamous cold-weather shank: the ball drawn through negative Minneapolis temperatures, the mass of people behind the net and post bending in disgusted unison, Richard Sherman and company bowing to whatever God they prayed to in thanks.
Vikings keep struggling Walsh after working out kickers
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have held off on switching kickers for now, with the struggling Blair Walsh still in place.
After holding tryouts for several free agents, the Vikings didn't put any signings on the league's transaction log on Tuesday. NFL Network reported the Vikings will keep Walsh after working out six kickers including Randy Bullock and Kai Forbath.
Quick takeaways from Week 9 early action: Minnesota Vikings’ ‘D’ and special teams deserve blame for another crushing loss
Here are Arthur Arkush's five quick takeaways from the Week Nine noon slate:
Minnesota sticking with Walsh after more misses
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Blair Walsh started off a new season the same way the Minnesota kicker wrapped up his last: hooking field goals left.
This time, Walsh missed not just one, but two field goals and twice on the second attempt before redeeming himself. He rebounded by kicking four field goals in the second half Sunday as Minnesota beat the Tennessee Titans 25-16.
Bridgewater, Vikings beat Chargers 23-10 in stadium opener
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Teddy Bridgewater was sharp in his return from a sore arm, completing 12 of 16 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown in the first half for the Minnesota Vikings in a 23-10 exhibition victory Sunday over the San Diego Chargers in the official unveiling their new stadium.
