CHICAGO (AP) — A person familiar with the situation says free agent reliever Brad Brach and the Chicago Cubs have agreed to a one-year contract that guarantees $4.35 million.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced. Brach and the Cubs have options for 2020.

David Dahl homered in the third and capped the winning rally with a two-out, two-run single off Brad Brach (1-3). The Rockies took advantage of an error by shortstop Danby Swanson leading off the ninth to win for the fifth time in six games.
Acuna HR streak ends, Rockies rally past Braves 5-3
ATLANTA (AP) — The Colorado Rockies took care of a couple of streaks.
First, they found a way to keep Braves rookie Ronald Acuna Jr. from hitting one over the fence.
Then, Colorado rallied for three unearned runs in the ninth inning and a 5-3 victory that snapped Atlanta's five-game winning streak Thursday night.
ATLANTA (AP) — From the perspective of manager Brian Snitker, the addition of right-hander Kevin Gausman means the Atlanta Braves added help in all the right places for their push to win the NL East.
Snitker applauded four trades made by general manager Alex Anthopoulos.
"I feel really good," Snitker said. "We talked about what you would like to have, and I think he hit all the boxes. Bullpen depth, starting pitcher, maybe a bat off the bench. I think they did a great job."
Freeman, Acuna go deep as Braves top Marlins 5-3
ATLANTA (AP) — Freddie Freeman's tiebreaking home run moved the Atlanta Braves closer to first place — just in time for a little boost from the front office a day before the trade deadline.
Freeman hit a go-ahead homer in the third inning, Ronald Acuna Jr. also went deep and the Braves beat the Miami Marlins 5-3 on Monday night to move a half-game behind first-place Philadelphia in the NL East.
Braves get righty reliever Brad Brach from Orioles
BALTIMORE (AP) — The Atlanta Braves bolstered their bullpen for a run at the NL East title, obtaining right-hander Brad Brach on Sunday in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles for $250,000 of international signing bonus allotment.
Brach is 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA and owns a 10.80 ERA in eight games this month. Left-handers are hitting .342 against him, and he has allowed runs in 11 of 42 appearances.
BALTIMORE (AP) — In what might have been his final game with the Orioles, Adam Jones showed precisely why he would be a valuable asset to a team looking to make a playoff run.
Jones had three hits, drove in a run, stole a base and craftily broke up a double play to help Baltimore beat the Tampa Bay Rays 11-5 on Sunday.
Schoop, Beckham HRs lift Orioles over Red Sox 7-6
BALTIMORE (AP) — Leading the Boston Red Sox by two runs entering the ninth inning, the Baltimore Orioles opted to look toward the future rather than the moment at hand.
Instead of summoning reliable closer Zach Britton, Orioles manager Buck Showalter called upon Brad Brach to seal the victory in the rain. Britton was about to be shipped out of town, so he watched from the bullpen as Baltimore squeezed past Boston 7-6 on Tuesday night.
BALTIMORE (AP) — Buried in the AL East cellar and well on their way to a second straight losing season, the Baltimore Orioles enter the so-called second half with this unavoidable realization: It's time to break up the band.
TORONTO (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles never recovered after blowing the opening game of a four-game set against the Blue Jays.
Curtis Granderson had four hits and a career-high six RBIs, Marco Estrada pitched six innings to snap an eight-start winless streak and Toronto routed the struggling Orioles 13-3 on Sunday to complete a four-game sweep.
TORONTO (AP) — Baltimore closer Brad Brach saw his remarkable run of success come to a sudden end against the Blue Jays.

"It feels great to have a win like that," Diaz said through a translator.
Orioles win 1-0 to sweep swooning Mets
NEW YORK (AP) — Manny Machado has sure hands — even when it comes to snagging bats near the on-deck circle.
Baltimore's two-time Gold Glove winner made a one-handed grab of Adam Jones' bat as it bounced off the protective screen near home plate in the first inning and hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth to give the Orioles a 1-0 victory over the punchless New York Mets on Wednesday.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Bob Melvin is stressing the need for the Oakland Athletics to score earlier in games, and they did just that against the Orioles.
Then, the offense had to provide a boost again late when the bullpen faltered.
Jed Lowrie hit a tiebreaking two-out single in the sixth, Khris Davis launched a three-run homer in the first and the A's beat Baltimore 6-4 on Friday night.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles intentionally walked Mike Trout three times to get to Justin Upton. Each time, Upton couldn't make them pay.
When Trout drew his fourth walk to load the bases in the ninth inning, Upton forgot his recent failures and the Angels' current team-wide offensive struggles.
NEW YORK (AP) — Things were getting beyond dicey for Brad Brach and the Baltimore Orioles.
Bases loaded, no outs. Clinging to a one-run lead in the 12th. Big boppers Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton coming up.
But boosted by an alert play from catcher Caleb Joseph, Brach escaped his own jam. And after overcoming an early deficit that left their starting pitcher punching the dugout wall, the Orioles held off the New York Yankees 8-7 Sunday.

In the past, the 31-year-old right-hand reliever was the setup man for Zach Britton. But with Britton starting the season on the 60-day disabled list recovering from a torn right Achilles tendon, Brach is line to become Baltimore's closer.
While manager Buck Showalter hasn't designated Brach the closer, it's expected he will do so shortly.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Down by a run in the ninth inning, Tampa Bay took advantage of a walk, a balk and a wild pitch to pull even.
In the 10th, the Rays used quite a different approach.
Steven Souza put Tampa Bay in control with a three-run homer in the 10th inning, and the Rays beat the Orioles 6-4 on Friday night.
NEW YORK (AP) — Matt Holliday ended a thrilling duel of home run derby in the Bronx with one final thump.

CINCINNATI - Ubaldo Jimenez's pitches were flat and his performances were disappointingly short in his first two games. The third time out, the Orioles starter felt a need to shine. Jimenez pitched two-hit ball into the eighth inning, and Baltimore overcame a dominating performance by Cincinnati...
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — It's been a short spring training for Zach Britton.
Early in camp, the Baltimore Orioles' left-handed reliever, who converted all 47 of his save opportunities in 2016, felt discomfort in his left oblique and was held out. Britton has said if this were the regular season he would have pitched, and that he is close to being ready to go.

Orioles stumble late as Yankees rally for 7-3 win
NEW YORK (AP) — Brad Brach picked up Austin Romine's bat behind home plate and slammed it to the turf. On the verge of moving into position to clinch no worse than a tiebreaker game for a playoff berth, the Baltimore Orioles let the opportunity slip away.
"Tomorrow is what we've been playing the whole season for anyway," Matt Wieters said after Baltimore wasted a three-run lead Saturday in a deflating 7-3 loss to the New York Yankees. "It shouldn't be hard to get ready for a game tomorrow."

BALTIMORE (AP) — Mark Trumbo hit his major league-leading 43rd home run to break an eighth-inning tie and carry the Baltimore Orioles past the Tampa Bay Rays, 2-1 on Sunday.
