RG3 hangs on in Baltimore, McCarron dealt to Oakland
RG3 is staying put while AJ is switching coasts.
Robert Griffin III, the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year whose career has been disrupted by injuries since that season, remained with Baltimore as the Ravens cut their roster to the league maximum of 53 on Saturday. He'll likely be the third-string quarterback behind Joe Flacco and first-round draft pick Lamar Jackson, but he still has a job.
Miller among those cut by Texans to get roster to 53
HOUSTON (AP) — Receiver Braxton Miller, a third-round pick in 2016, was among those cut by the Houston Texans as they trimmed their roster to 53 players for the regular season.
Miller was twice named Big Ten offensive player of the year as a quarterback at Ohio State before transitioning to receiver after an injury. He saw limited action in two seasons with the Texans, finishing his career in Houston with 34 receptions for 261 yards and two touchdowns in 21 games.
Texans look to regroup after mistake and injury-filled game
HOUSTON (AP) — After yet another loss, the Houston Texans are trying to figure out how to correct their mistakes and deal with several more injuries after already losing stars J.J. Watt and Deshaun Watson for the season.
Houston's 24-13 defeat at Tennessee on Sunday was its fifth loss in six games to drop the team to 4-8.
Already decimated by injuries, the Texans sustained several more against the Titans, leaving them thin at several positions heading into Sunday's game against the 49ers.
Savage’s career game marred by pick in loss to Titans
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tom Savage came in without starting wide receiver Will Fuller, then the Houston quarterback lost wide receiver Bruce Ellington early with a hamstring injury followed by tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz and receiver Braxton Miller with concussions.
Then running back Alfred Blue was forced out by a concussion.
Four offensive players gone, forcing the Texans to mix and match on the fly. Even Savage was evaluated for a concussion at halftime, though he didn't miss a snap.

Sidelined with injury in ’14, Barrett gets another chance
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — When Ohio State captured an improbable national championship two years ago, J.T. Barrett was pushing himself around on the sideline on a scooter that kept his broken right ankle elevated.
After a breakout season filling in for the injured Braxton Miller in 2014, Barrett went down in the Michigan game, ushering in third-string quarterback Cardale Jones and consecutive victories over Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon. Barrett could only lean on the scooter and watch the heroics.
Texans look to young receivers to step up in second half
HOUSTON (AP) — In his NFL career, Houston coach Bill O'Brien has rarely seen a rookie receiver get significant playing time.
This season, the Texans have two first-year receivers filling key roles and a rookie tight end playing a part in the offense, too.

LAST YEAR: Inconsistency and injuries forced Texans to use four quarterbacks and they lost running back Arian Foster to season-ending Achilles tendon injury in October. Despite those setbacks defense, led by Defensive Player of Year J.J. Watt, helped them win seven of last nine games to shake off 2-5 start, win AFC South and reach playoffs for first time since 2012. But Brian Hoyer had career-high four interceptions...
