The Omaha World-Herald reports the girl was in critical condition Monday at the Nebraska Medical Center after being injured during Sunday's event.
Ashlyn Lutz of Lincoln was injured around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Initially she was treated by workers at TD Ameritrade Park before paramedics arrived.
STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi State has hired Indiana's Chris Lemonis to be its next baseball coach.
Lemonis, 48, has led the Hoosiers to the NCAA Tournament in three of the past four years. He was also an assistant at Louisville when the school made three trips to the College World Series.
The school announced Monday that Lemonis will replace interim coach Gary Henderson, who led the Bulldogs on a surprise run to the College World Series. He'll be introduced on campus Tuesday.

Florida State’s Mike Martin to retire after 2019 season
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Mike Martin will take one more shot at getting Florida State a national championship in baseball.
The university announced on Monday that 2019 will be Martin's 40th and final season as the Seminoles' coach. The 74-year old Martin, who became college baseball's career wins leader in May, has a 1,987-713-4 record and .736 win percentage.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Florida pitcher Brady Singer has been honored with the Dick Howser Trophy as college baseball's player of the year.
Singer, who received the award Friday, carries a 12-1 record and 2.30 ERA into the College World Series. The native of Eustis, Florida, was the No. 18 overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft by the Kansas City Royals.
Singer is the second Florida player to win the award, following Mike Zunino in 2012.
Strikeouts on upswing entering College World Series
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — If the College World Series is like the rest of the season, there will be lots of strikeouts when the final eight teams play for the national championship at TD Ameritrade Park.
Strikeout numbers are the highest on record in college baseball, and pitching staffs averaging nine or more Ks per nine innings have tripled the last two years.

DIAMOND, Mo. (AP) — A 7-year-old Missouri boy who suffered debilitating injuries when he was struck in the head by a foul ball at a college baseball game last month is recovering and will throw out the first pitch an upcoming minor league game.
Dawson Hirshey, of Diamond, was struck by a line-drive foul ball during a Missouri Southern State University baseball game on April 13. The injury caused bleeding in his brain, several mini-strokes and the loss of movement.
Temple College earns JUCO World Series bid out of left field
The Temple College baseball season was in the books. Coach and former major league pitcher Craig McMurtry even had exit interviews planned with his players.

Southern Miss’ Sandlin wins Ferriss Trophy
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Southern Mississippi pitcher Nick Sandlin has won the Ferriss Trophy, which is given annually to Mississippi's top college baseball player.
The right-handed Sandlin has been dominant for the Southern Miss pitching staff and finished the regular season with an 8-0 record. His 1.25 ERA is second in the nation and he struck out 122 batters over 86 1/3 innings. Opponents are hitting just .156 against him and he walked just 14 batters.

Havasu’s Bagshaw signs to play baseball at Dominican University
On Thursday, Lake Havasu pitcher and third baseman Bryant Bagshaw signed to play baseball with NCAA Division III Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois just west of Chicago.
Bagshaw joins Jackson Nelson and Brennen Mitchell as the third Knights player to sign to play college baseball this year.
“I’ve always wanted to a person that can play two positions and I’ve always worked hard towards that,” Bagshaw said about the biggest factor in making his decision of where to sign.

Yuba College’s baseball team opened its final series of the season on Tuesday and played the role of spoiler against a Mendocino club that sat in third place in the Bay Valley Conference and was looking to secure a playoff berth.

North Carolina schools account for four of the top 12 teams in the latest Baseball America College Top 25.
No. 2 North Carolina State captured its 10th straight ACC series win over the weekend, taking two of three from Duke in Durham to move to 31-8 overall and 15-6 in league play. SEC power Florida remained No. 1 in the national poll.

COLLEGE BASEBALL: Berry moves on to SAA championship series
Four Vikings had multiple hits, and Dylan Beasley tossed 11 strikeouts across seven scoreless frames as the Berry College baseball team rolled to a 12-0 victory on their home field over Millsaps on Saturday afternoon.
The win in the SAA sectional tournament finals not only gives the top-seeded Vikings a spot in the conference championship series next weekend, but also gives them hosting rights when they take on Rhodes in the best-of-three series.

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa | Morningside never trailed in either game of a 7-3 and 8-3 doubleheader sweep of Dordt in Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball action at Open Space Park Saturday.
The Mustangs scored two runs in the top of the first inning of both games of the set and went on to level their GPAC league record at 10-10 to go with a 16.-21-1 overall mark.
