Hue Again? Browns set to face former coach Jackson, Bengals
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — While the Browns relaxed during the bye week, their fired former coach went back to work.
Hue Jackson's got a new gig.
And this strange season in Cleveland will take another odd turn Sunday when the Browns face the Bengals and Jackson, who somehow survived an 0-16 season and was only briefly unemployed before being hired last week as a special assistant to Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis.

Heat for tweet: Browns’ Randall amazed by jersey posting
CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns safety Damarious Randall underestimated two things: the power of social media and passion of Cleveland fans.
Randall said Wednesday he never imagined that an innocent Twitter posting about the NBA Finals would blow up into a national story — and maybe something he lives to regret.
Jersey promise could leave Browns player in red if Cavs win
CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland Browns safety Damarious Randall better hope LeBron James' postseason excellence is over.
Randall promised on Twitter that if James and the Cavaliers upset the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals he would buy a jersey for anyone who re-tweeted his post. As of Tuesday afternoon, there were 334,000 re-tweets on Randall's account (@RandallTime).
Browns exercise fifth-year option on S Damarious Randall
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns exercised the fifth-year option on defensive back Damarious Randall, acquired during the offseason from Green Bay.
Cleveland traded quarterback DeShone Kizer and swapped draft picks on March 14 with the Packers for Randall. The 25-year-old is expected to play free safety for the Browns, allowing Jabrill Peppers to move to strong safety, where he played more at Michigan.
Randall was selected by Green Bay with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2015 draft.
Packers take Louisville CB Jaire Alexander at No. 18
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Packers drafted what they needed most: a cornerback.
But what Green Bay also got by selecting Louisville's Jaire Alexander at No. 18 overall on Thursday night is a skilled defender and kick returner.
"We think he's versatile," Packers director of scouting Jon-Eric Sullivan said. "He can run — he's a 4.3 guy. He's got really good twitch, lateral agility. So, we do think he can play inside. He's very instinctive."
Cleveland Browns ship Kevin Hogan to Washington, complete 2017 QB room cleanse
The Browns now have the same number of quarterbacks left on their roster who attempted a pass last season as 2017 wins.
New GM John Dorsey traded QB Kevin Hogan to Washington in exchange for a sixth-round pick Friday, per multiple reports. Hogan becomes the last of three holdover Browns quarterbacks to get dealt this offseason.
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Cleveland Browns traded their third quarterback of the offseason, sending Kevin Hogan to the Washington Redskins.
The teams announced the deal Friday that includes swapping sixth-round picks. Cleveland acquires the 188th pick from Washington for No. 205, which it previously acquired from New England for cornerback Jason McCourty.
After years of disappointment, Packers knew defensive changes had to go deeper than just coordinator
ORLANDO, Fla. — If you don’t think your defense is good enough to win a Super Bowl — and the Green Bay Packers obviously knew that theirs hasn’t been over the past few years — then you have to make changes. And those changes have to go deeper than simply replacing the defensive coordinator.
Browns sign cornerback E.J. Gaines, played for Bills in ’17
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns signed free agent cornerback E.J. Gaines, the latest addition to a revamped secondary.
Gaines played last season for the Buffalo Bills. The 26-year-old will be reunited in Cleveland with Browns defensive coordinator Gregg Williams as the two previously worked together with the Los Angeles Rams.
The 26-year-old Gaines, who also met with the New York Jets, will bring speed and depth to the Browns.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Packers have signed free agent defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson and also acquired quarterback DeShone Kizer.
The team announced the moves a day after the opening of free agency.
Kizer was acquired in a trade with the Browns for cornerback Damarious Randall with drafts picks also involved.
Burnt bridge: Taylor a starter, not stopgap QB for Browns
CLEVELAND (AP) — Call him mobile, dynamic, proven or Buffalo's former quarterback. Don't dare label Tyrod Taylor anything else.
In his first official appearance since coming to Cleveland, Taylor, who ended the Bills' long playoff drought last season, was asked if he could be a one-year stopgap or "bridge" quarterback while the Browns develop a young QB.
Browns start fresh with flurry of trades, free agent deals
CLEVELAND (AP) — Following four trades and a flurry of free-agent deals, the Cleveland Browns are looking better.
Maybe even good enough to win a game next season.
On the day one-of-a-kind left tackle Joe Thomas said goodbye after 11 stellar seasons, the Browns took the first steps without their perennial Pro Bowler, a player who might be replaced but never duplicated.
Packers trade cornerback Damarious Randall to Browns for quarterback DeShone Kizer
GREEN BAY — Considering how thin the Green Bay Packers are at cornerback, first-year general manager Brian Gutekunst must really be convinced he can upgrade the position through free agency and the draft — and must really feel the team needs more competition behind quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Thrown away: AP source: Browns trade QB Kizer to Packers
CLEVELAND (AP) — After one difficult season, the Browns threw DeShone Kizer away.
Cleveland traded its starting quarterback on Friday to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for cornerback Damarious Randall, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press. The teams will also swap late-round picks, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because league rules prohibit teams from announcing any trades until next week.
Browns make 3 major trades, acquire QB Taylor, WR Landry

Packers: Damarious Randall undergoes surgery on hand
GREEN BAY — It turns out Damarious Randall’s curious 2017 season had another twist to it: The Green Bay Packers third-year cornerback played through a hand injury that bothered him all season and required surgery.
Randall, who ended the year as the Packers’ most reliable cover man, had the surgery Monday. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which was first to report the minor procedure, reported that Randall had a small bone fixed in his hand at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
Packers: Injuries force Green Bay to shuffle deck in loss to Minnesota Vikings
GREEN BAY — Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams weren’t the only ones who sat out the Green Bay Packers’ 16-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings Saturday night — which certainly didn’t help the Packers’ chances.
Packers’ pass interference jumpstarted too-cute Vikings
GREEN BAY, Wis. Pat Shurmur, the Vikings red-hot offensive coordinator, was being too cute with his calls early on in Saturdays game against an overmatched and undermanned Packers team that hadnt been a nine-point home underdog in nearly 30 years.
And it wouldnt matter one iota. Vikings 16, Packers 0. First shutout since 1993. First Vikings shutout of the Packers since 1971.
That, said receiver Adam Thielen, was a great win.
Good, yes. Gritty, for sure. But great might be stretching it.
OLB Matthews among 5 Packers starters inactive for Vikings
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Outside linebackers Clay Matthews and Nick Perry are among five starters inactive for the Green Bay Packers' game Saturday night against the Minnesota Vikings.
Matthews (hamstring) and Perry (ankle/shoulder) each missed practice this week. The Packers are playing their first game since being eliminated from playoff contention.
Packers: Tom Oates gives Green Bay overall grade of ‘C’ in loss at Carolina
Aaron Rodgers threw three interceptions, but he played fearlessly and gave the Packers a chance to win in the face of a ferocious fourth-quarter pass rush. Davante Adams was outstanding until a blindside hit put him out of the game. Randall Cobb stepped up in a big way. Aaron Jones is a terific change-of-pace back.
With Davon House doubtful, Packers take another hit at CB
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers have listed cornerback Davon House as doubtful for their game Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, potentially weakening an already depleted position.

Packers’ Kevin King out for season with shoulder injury
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The early end to rookie Kevin King's season in Green Bay opened a path for Demetri Goodson to return to the secondary following a serious knee injury.
King's season is over after the team placed the cornerback on injured reserve Wednesday with a lingering shoulder injury.
The 6-foot-3 King, who was inactive for two of the past three games, gave the defense a mix of height and speed that they had been lacking at cornerback to play effective press coverage.
Packers get starting OL back with G Lane Taylor active
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Packers left guard Lane Taylor is active for the Monday night game against Detroit, allowing the Packers to play their entire starting offensive line for just the second time this season.
Taylor is back after missing a game with an ankle injury.
Cornerbacks Damarious Randall (hamstring/illness) and Kevin King (back) are also active for the Packers against the Lions' potent passing game. They were each listed as questionable.
Packers: Damarious Randall on a roll after surviving ugly episode against Bears
GREEN BAY – The comment, made in the euphoria of a last-minute victory, required an auditory double-take. But Ha Ha Clinton-Dix meant exactly what he said that evening at AT&T Stadium.
Tom Oates: Packers get overall grade of D in defeat
Brett Hundley was better running than passing in his starting debut, though he really wasn't asked to throw downfield. With a conservative game plan, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams totaled 40 yards on five catches. Aaron Jones made great cuts and showed power en route to 131 yards rushing.
Tom Oates: Packers receive overall grade of ‘B+’ for last-minute win over Cowboys
Green Bay scored on five of its seven possessions. Quick and instinctive, Aaron Jones gave Green Bay its first 100-yard rusher this season. Aaron Rodgers is the master of the 2-minute drill. And to think, some said he wasn't clutch. Davante Adams' winning touchdown capped a remarkable comeback from a concussion.
Packers, Damarious Randall move forward after CB benching
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers are hoping that starting cornerback Damarious Randall has learned from a very visible mistake.
Randall was benched in the second half of the 35-14 win on Sept. 28 against the Chicago Bears. After a long weekend off for the team, Randall appeared to be back in the regular rotation at cornerback when the Packers returned to practice on Wednesday.
Packers: Conerbacks coach Joe Whitt mum on Damarious Randall
GREEN BAY -- Joe Whitt did not want to say much of anything about Damarious Randall on Thursday evening.
Whitt, the Green Bay Packers thoughtful, straight-shooting and eloquent cornerbacks coach, has held forth on many topics during his nine years in his current job. Rarely has he held back when speaking with reporters.

Packers: Quinten Rollins makes big impression at cornerback
GREEN BAY — Early in training camp, Mike McCarthy warned the media corps not to focus too closely on which players worked with the first-string, second-string and third-string offenses and defenses at practice. The Green Bay Packers coach knew reporters would still keep track of who lined up where with whom, but his argument was the reps wouldn’t necessarily line up with the coaches’ depth chart.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — It didn't take long for the Green Bay Packers' first draft pick, cornerback Kevin King, to get his shot with the starting defense.
After Green Bay lined up with Davon House and LaDarius Gunter as the cornerbacks and Damarious Randall in the slot for Thursday's first day of training camp, the coaches switched things up on Friday, with House and King as the cornerbacks and Quinten Rollins in the slot.
