Lehigh Valley native voice for diversity in Hollywood
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — From the start of his career in Hollywood, Daniel Dae Kim didn't see roadblocks. He saw opportunities.
Despite a lack of Asian characters in television and film, the Freedom High School graduate persevered, landing leading roles in TV hits "Lost" and "Hawaii 5-0." He later fought for pay equal to his white co-stars' on "Hawaii 5-0" and ultimately left the show over the issue.
Daniel Dae Kim is in talks to replace Ed Skrein in the 'Hellboy' reboot.
The 49-year-old actor, who is best known for starring in TV series 'Lost', could be starring as Major Ben Daimo, a consultant to the titular character at the Bureau for Paranormal Research, in the Neil Marshall reboot after Skrein dropped out of the movie due to complaints the character was being "whitewashed", Variety reports.
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Freddie Highmore sees his move from "Bates Motel" to "The Good Doctor" as a refreshing change.
"It's nice to save people after years of killing them," Highmore said, dryly, of the surgeon he plays in the upcoming ABC drama. He portrayed an adolescent Norman Bates On "Bates Motel," A&E's prequel to the classic thriller "Psycho."
NEW YORK (AP) — CBS says Ian Anthony Dale, Meaghan Rath and Beulah Koale are set to join the cast of "Hawaii Five-0" with its eighth season.

Dale has had a recurring role on "Hawaii Five-0" as Adam Noshimuri since season two. This summer, he is starring in CBS' suspense thriller "Salvation."

In a Facebook post, the actor said he and CBS were unable to agree on contract terms, so he made the "difficult choice" to exit the series.
