DALLAS (AP) — Boeing, flying high on strong demand for airliners and military planes, faces a difficult decision over whether to develop a new plane to fill in a gap in its lineup.

Boeing Co. on Wednesday reported earnings of $2.01 per share on revenues of $21 billion during the first quarter of 2017, which ended with the initial test flight of the aerospace giant's 787-10 Dreamliner built exclusively in North Charleston.
The earnings beat analysts' expectations of $1.94 per share and represented a 16 percent increase over the same period a year ago.
