State representative to deploy to Middle East in 2018
DUBOIS, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania legislator has announced he will be deployed to the Middle East next year.
WJAC-TV reports Republican state Rep. Matt Gabler announced Thursday he will be deployed in 2018 as a serviceman in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
Gabler is a medical logistics officer, and he is joining about 500 soldiers from the 28th Infantry Division.
Penn Highlands DuBois nurses consider unionization
DUBOIS, Pa. (AP) — Nurses in the western Pennsylvania network Penn Highlands DuBois will determine if they will unionize this week.
WJACT-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2y8l3H7 ) the group of 370 nurses is expected to vote on Thursday and Friday. The nurses are considering joining the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals.

DUBOIS, Pa. (AP) — A Roman Catholic diocese in Pennsylvania has reached a resolution with a woman who filed a federal lawsuit claiming she was forced to resign for complaining that a priest touched himself improperly during work meetings with her.

UPMC mold transplant lawsuits now targeting linen firm, too
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Families of two organ transplant patients who are blaming their deaths on a mold outbreak at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center hospitals are now also targeting the hospital's linen vendor.
Paris Healthcare Linen Service, which is part of Paris Companies, of DuBois, didn't immediately respond to calls for comment from The Associated Press on Friday.
59 vehicles in Pennsylvania pileup on snowy, slick highway
DUBOIS, Pa. (AP) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says 59 vehicles crashed in a snowy pileup along a western Pennsylvania highway, and three people were hurt.
PennDOT spokesman Jim Carroll says 22 tractor-trailers and 37 cars are involved in the crash on Interstate 80 in Jefferson County.
The county's director of emergency services, Tracy Zents, says the three suffered minor to moderate injuries and were transported to hospitals.
Superintendent defends staff over overcooked school burger
DUBOIS, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania school district superintendent is defending his food service staff over a photo of an overcooked school cafeteria hamburger that was posted online.
A student at DuBois Area High School posted the picture on the town's regional Facebook page to show people what a friend was served at school on Monday.
