LOS ANGELES (AP) — Justin Turner homered on Zack Greinke's first pitch of the eighth inning, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 on Friday night.
Los Angeles began the day two games behind Arizona in the NL West and 2 1/2 games back in the wild-card race.
The Dodgers also announced they had acquired third baseman David Freese from the Pirates in exchange for minor league infielder Jesus Manuel Valdez.

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs have activated closer Wade Davis from the paternity list and optioned right-hander Dylan Floro to Triple-A Iowa.
Davis went on the paternity list Monday. The 31-year-old right-hander is 2-0 with a microscopic 0.89 ERA and 12 saves in his first season with Chicago after he was acquired in an offseason trade with Kansas City.
The team announced the moves before Tuesday night's game against Miami.

Davis and his wife, Katelyn, are expecting their second child. The 31-year-old Davis is 2-0 with a microscopic 0.89 ERA and 12 saves in his first season with Chicago after he was acquired in an offseason trade with Kansas City.
Floro made two appearances with the Cubs last month, allowing six runs in 6 1/3 innings.
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs have promoted reliever Zac Rosscup from Triple-A Iowa, adding another left-hander to their bullpen.
They selected Rosscup's contract before Monday night's game against San Francisco. Right-hander Dylan Floro was sent down to Iowa, and right-hander Jake Buchanan was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
The 28-year-old Rosscup missed last season due to left shoulder surgery. He is 3-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 61 career major league games.
CHICAGO (AP) — Jason Heyward has been activated from the 10-day disabled list and started in right field for the Chicago Cubs in the finale of a two-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Heyward, batting .253 with three homers and 17 RBIs, had been on the DL since May 8 because of a sprained right finger.
Chicago recalled right-hander Dylan Floro from Iowa on Sunday and optioned infielder Tommy LaStella and right-hander Pierce Johnson to the Triple-A team.
Rays claim OF Coats, designate RHP Floro for assignment
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Rays have claimed outfielder Jason Coats off waivers from the Chicago White Sox and designated right-handed pitcher Dylan Floro for assignment.
The team announced the moves Wednesday.
Coats appeared in 28 games with the White Sox last season, batting .200 with one homer and four RBIs. Floro made his major league debut for the Rays in 2016, appearing 12 times out of the bullpen while going 0-1 with a 4.20 ERA.
