Margaret Atwood receives Franz Kafka award in Prague
PRAGUE (AP) — Canadian novelist and poet Margaret Atwood has been awarded the Franz Kafka Prize.
An international jury selected Atwood in May as the winner of the annual literary award, which is handed out by the Prague-based Franz Kafka Society.
Atwood was in Prague on Tuesday to receive the award, a small statue of Kafka by Czech artist Jaroslav Rona and a cash prize of $10,000.
Highlights from "Historical Agriculture and Soil Erosion in the Upper Mississippi Valley Hill Country":
• The earliest explorers remarked on the "crystal" clear water of the region, even in the Mississippi River.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's Supreme Court has stripped an Israeli family of a collection of Franz Kafka manuscripts, ruling that they be transferred to the country's National Library.
The National Library says in an announcement on Tuesday that the court ruled it was "the preferred location" for the trove of unpublished Kafka works. The library says it will make the manuscripts accessible to the general public.
