Tigers agree to minor league contract with Beckham
DETROIT (AP) — Infielder Gordon Beckham agreed to a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers and was invited to major league spring training.
If Beckham is added to the 40-man roster, he would get a one-year contract paying $700,000 while in the majors and $138,000 while in the minors. Beckham played in only 33 major league games over the past two seasons with the Seattle Mariners.
Catcher Hector Sanchez also agreed to a minor league deal.
Mariners activate Dee Gordon from DL, option Beckham
SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners activated second baseman Dee Gordon off the 10-day disabled list before Thursday night's game against the Texas Rangers and reinserted him into his customary leadoff spot.
Infielder Gordon Beckham was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma to make room for Gordon on the roster.
Gordon was placed on the DL with a fractured right big toe on May 22, retroactive to May 21. Gordon originally injured the toe on May 9 in Toronto and aggravated the injury 11 days later in Detroit.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Seattle Mariners say they will have a better idea on the projected length of Robinson Cano's recovery time after the second baseman is examined by a hand specialist in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
The eight-time All-Star broke the pinkie finger of his right hand when hit by a pitch from left-hander Blaine Hardy on Sunday at the Detroit.
Cano is batting .287 with four homers, 23 RBIs and a .385 on-base percentage in 39 games this season.
Infielder Gordon Beckham, Giants agree to minor league deal
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Infielder Gordon Beckham has agreed to a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants and will attend big league spring training.
If added to the major league roster, Beckham would get a $1.25 million, one-year deal.
The team announced the deal Wednesday, five days ahead of when pitchers and catchers report to spring training.
