Hyatt Hotels: 4Q Earnings Snapshot
CHICAGO (AP) _ Hyatt Hotels Corp. (H) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $44 million.
The Chicago-based company said it had net income of 40 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 62 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 22 cents per share.
San Francisco Marriott hotel workers vote on new contract
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Marriott hotel workers in San Francisco voted Monday on a new contract, bringing a possible end to a coast-to-coast effort by workers for better wages and job security from the world's largest hotel operator.
San Francisco is the last holdout of eight U.S. cities where nearly 8,000 Marriott hotel workers went on strike in October.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 25 cents per share.
Visitor volume down slightly on Oregon Coast, spending up

BATTLE GROUND, Ind. (AP) — An investment group has bought a long-abandoned hotel that has been an eyesore along Interstate 65 near Lafayette, with plans to strip the building down to its concrete structure in hopes of finding a buyer.
The four-story building that opened in 1972 as a Holiday Inn has been closed since 2003. It has become mold infested and vandalized while the Battle Ground Town Council sought its cleanup or demolition.

Trump organization says hotel deal in Dallas is off
DALLAS (AP) — A deal to build a new Trump-brand hotel in Dallas has been abandoned.
A spokeswoman for the Trump Organization said Thursday that the president's company told the developer not to pursue the deal with the city council.
The developer, Mike Sarimsakci, declined to comment when reached by phone.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 28 cents per share.
The hotel operator posted revenue of $1.09 billion in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.1 billion.
Coastal Georgia salvages holiday travel weekend after storm
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Businesses on the Georgia coast hope to salvage a profitable Labor Day weekend after Tropical Storm Hermine scared away some holiday travelers.
Joe Marinelli, president of Savannah's visitor bureau, said Saturday the city's hotels often see 90 percent occupancy rates over the Labor Day period. He says some people cancelled weekend hotel reservations because they feared traveling Friday as Hermine churned across southeast Georgia.
