"After the game I realized we could do this," O'Hearn said before a spring training workout. "We could compete in this division. I could compete in this league. That was a huge confidence builder for me. That was a great day."

CINCINNATI (AP) — Hunter Dozier's quiet night turned into a clutch, game-winning effort for the Kansas City Royals.
Dozier led off the ninth inning with a tie-breaking home run, then teamed with shortstop Adalberto Mondesi for a key out in the bottom of the inning as the Royals beat the slumping Cincinnati Reds 4-3 Tuesday night.
"It felt like a quiet night until the ninth," said Dozier, who snapped a 0-for-17 skid with his homer to left field. "A lot happened in a short amount of time."

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals traded slugging first baseman Lucas Duda to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations after their game against Detroit on Wednesday.
Duda signed a $3.5 million, one-year deal to take over for departed first baseman Eric Hosmer this season. But despite showing flashes of his prodigious power, Duda's hit just .242 with 13 homers and 48 RBIs while appeared in 87 games, making his trade somewhat imminent.
