Charleston surges to 5th straight win, 83-75 over Delaware
NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Grant Riller had 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead four players in double figures as Charleston took control in the second half to beat Delaware 83-75 on Thursday night for the Cougars fifth straight victory.
Zep Jasper was 3 of 4 from distance to total 14 points, Brevin Galloway added 13 and Jarrell Brantley chipped in 12 points for Charleston (19-6, 8-4 Colonial Athletic Association).
Brantley has double-double, leads Charleston over Elon 72-53
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Jarrell Brantley had 21 points and 14 rebounds as Charleston beat Elon 72-53 on Thursday night.
Grant Riller added 17 points and seven rebounds for Charleston (15-6, 4-4 Colonial Athletic Conference). Jaylen McManus had 12 points.
Tyler Seibring scored 16 points for the Phoenix (6-15, 2-6). Steven Santa Ana added 13 points and eight rebounds. Sheldon Eberhardt had six assists.
Riller scores 31 and Charleston holds off UNC Wilmington
WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Grant Riller scored 31 points and defending conference champion College of Charleston defeated UNC Wilmington 73-66 in a Colonial Athletic Association opener on Saturday night.
Charleston's win overshadowed a 27-point, 19-rebound game for UNCW's Devontae Cacok.
Brantley scores 23 as Coll. Of Charleston beats Siena 83-58
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Jarrell Brantley scored 23 points on 8-of-8 shooting, including five 3-pointers, and Grant Riller added 19 points to help College of Charleston beat Siena 83-58 on Tuesday night.
Brantley, a senior who came in averaging 20.2 points per game, moved past Tony White Jr. and Marion Busby into ninth on the program's career list with 1,519 points. Brevin Galloway made 6 of 8 from the field and finished with 14 points for the Cougars (10-2), who have won seven in a row.
Riller’s 28 pts helps lead Charleston past Charlotte 72-64
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Grant Riller scored 28 points making 14-of-15 free throws, distributed nine assists and Charleston beat Charlotte 72-64 on Saturday.
Charleston (7-2) extended its home-court win streak to 20 games. Charlotte (2-4) entered holding opponents to 64.6 points per game. Charleston now has score 70 or more in its last four games.
Charleston cruises in 82-66 win over Northeastern
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Jarrell Brantley scored 22 points and Charleston cruised to an 82-66 victory over Northeastern on Thursday night.
Charleston (12-5, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association) took the lead for good midway through the first half and built a 10-point halftime advantage. Northeastern (10-7, 3-2) cut the deficit to six points early in the second, but Joe Chealey hit a 3-pointer during a 7-0 spurt and Charleston led by double digits for nearly the rest of the way.
Charleston beats SC State 80-64 on Riller’s career night
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Grant Riller scored a career-high 31 points with four 3-pointers, Nick Harris had 10 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double, and Charleston never trailed in beating South Carolina State 80-64 on Tuesday night.
Chealy scores 20, Charleston beats D-II N Greenville 92-60
CHARLSTON, S.C. (AP) — Joe Chealy scored 20 points with four 3-pointers and five assist as Charleston defeated Division II North Greenville 92-60 on Sunday to run its winning streak to five.
Ten players scored for the Cougars (7-2), with Cameron Johnson adding 12 points, Grant Riller and Marquise Pointer 11 each, Nick Harris scored nine with 12 rebounds. Charleston's 92 points is a season high.
Chealey leads Charleston past High Point 70-58
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Joe Chealey scored 17 points and fueled the go-ahead second-half run to lead College of Charleston to a 70-58 win over High Point on Monday night.
Grant Riller added 15 points, Jaylen McManus had a career-high 13 points and Cameron Johnson scored 11 for Charleston. The Cougars made 21 of 25 from the free-throw line, while High Point hit 5 of 9, to remain unbeaten at home this season.
Charleston downs Sam Houston 59-49 behind Pointer
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Marquise Pointer scored 12 points, including a go-ahead jumper, Nick Harris scored 11 with eight rebounds, and the College of Charleston beat Sam Houston State 59-49 on Thursday night to win the consolation semifinals of the 2017 GCI Great Alaska Shootout.
Jo Chealey scored 13 points with eight assists and Jaylen McManus added nine points with three 3-pointers for the Cougars (3-2), who face the winner of Santa Clara vs. Anchorage Alaska in the finals on Saturday.
