ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Braves infielder Rio Ruiz has been claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles.
The 24-year-old Ruiz played sparingly with the Braves the last three seasons and had little future with the team after the emergence of Johan Camargo and the signing of free agent Josh Donaldson.
Ruiz played a total of 72 games with Atlanta, hitting .189 with four homers and 21 RBIs. He spent most of 2018 with Triple-A Gwinnett, where he batted .269 with nine homers and 72 RBIs.

Newcomb had a 2-2 count with two outs in the ninth inning when Taylor hit a hard grounder beyond the reach of diving third baseman Johan Camargo. That came on the career-high 134th and final pitch by the 25-year-old lefty.

ATLANTA (AP) — Shortstop Dansby Swanson was placed on the 10-day disabled list by the Atlanta Braves with left wrist inflammation.
Swanson was removed from Wednesday's game at the New York Mets in the sixth inning and did not play in Thursday's trip finale. He is hitting .298 with two homers and 13 RBIs but just .171 in his last 35 at-bats.

Braves player trips jogging over chalk line, hurts knee
ATLANTA (AP) — Rookie shortstop Johan Camargo suffered a bone bruise in his right knee while jogging onto the field before Tuesday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Camargo was taking the field when his right knee appeared to lock as he reached down to grab a handful of dirt or touch the chalk on the first-base line. He fell to the ground on the infield grass.
The diagnosis was made following an MRI. The Braves initially said the injury was a hyperextended knee.
