Rams defense ready for what Packers QB Rodgers can create
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — When it comes to quarterbacks creating something out of nothing, Aaron Rodgers of Green Bay and Russell Wilson of Seattle are the gold standard.
Fortunately for safety John Johnson III and the rest of the Los Angeles Rams' defense, they already got a look at Wilson's Houdini act and can use that experience to prepare for what Rodgers and the Packers might do on Sunday.
When Chris Pace resigned as the head football coach at Weston late in the 2016 season, he wondered if and when he’d land another job just like it.
Pace, it turns out, can now leaving the guessing aside.

The Rams made the move Friday with Davis. The fifth-year pro hasn't practiced since injuring his thigh nearly three weeks ago at Jacksonville.
Davis has one interception and 22 tackles this season for the Rams (5-2), who moved to a new defensive scheme this season under coordinator Wade Phillips. Davis played extensively on defense in the final four games before his injury.

Rams put trust in depth, development by cutting Alexander

Rams waive former starting safety Alexander, add WR Thomas
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Rams waived safety Maurice Alexander a day after he was a surprise healthy scratch in their 16-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Alexander started the first four games of this season, but was inactive against the Seahawks.
"There were some things where we expected a better level of play from him and he knew that. Those things were communicated," Rams coach Sean McVay said Monday.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Even without a first-round pick, the Los Angeles Rams are finding ways to bolster the NFL's worst offense around Jared Goff.
The Rams chose South Alabama tight end Gerald Everett with the 44th overall pick Friday after retreating seven spots in a trade with the Buffalo Bills. Los Angeles then grabbed Eastern Washington receiver Cooper Kupp with its third-round pick before using the 91st overall choice acquired from Buffalo on Boston College safety John Johnson.
While former Boston College strong safety John Johnson awaits his summons to the NFL, a spirited competition to replace him took place during the Eagles spring football season.
With 17 scouts at yesterday’s pro day at Boston College, one would probably have a difficult time nailing down a consensus of where exactly John Johnson will line up at the next level.
