Pedal-down Bears keep Vikings out of playoffs with 24-10 win
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — While taking the NFC North champion Chicago Bears to the playoffs for the first time in eight years, coach Matt Nagy has displayed an energetic personality and aggressive mindset throughout his debut.
Even with their postseason position all but set, the Bears refused to let up. They kept the rival Minnesota Vikings out of the playoffs in the process.
After breakthrough from Howard, Bears seek more ground gains
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Jordan Howard picked the perfect time to break through for the Chicago Bears.
The running back was at his best on a night when quarterback Mitchell Trubisky struggled, running for a season-high 101 yards to help the NFC North leaders beat the NFC West champion Los Angeles Rams 15-6 last week.
Yes, the defense dominated, stopping Jared Goff and a high-powered offense.
Vikings’ rushing attack shut down by Bears
CHICAGO (AP) — Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray had nowhere to go, all night long.
The Minnesota Vikings got pushed around by the Chicago Bears in prime time.
Minnesota managed just 22 yards on the ground while Jordan Howard powered an effective rushing attack for Chicago, sending the Vikings to a costly 25-20 loss on Sunday. The disparity on the ground led to a noticeable difference in time of possession, and Minnesota's defense looked tired at times, especially in the first half.
FANTASY PLAYS: Players to start and sit in NFL Week 10
Like winter, fantasy football playoffs loom. Successful fantasy owners shouldn't go into victory formation yet, as one bad week or unfortunate injury can change the complexion of the whole season.
Those still pushing for a postseason berth should pull out all the stops without fear. Week 10 brings opportunity for players who have otherwise been disappointments along with a rookie or two who should be used to exploit favorable matchups.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Linebacker Khalil Mack broke into a wide grin when it was pointed out the Chicago Bears defense didn't need him for a second straight week.

Sidelined by a right ankle injury, Mack had plenty of reason to joke.
Bears place Long in IR with right foot injury
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears placed right guard Kyle Long on injured reserve Saturday because of a tendon injury in his right foot.
The move means the NFC North-leading Bears (4-3) will be without Long for at least eight weeks.
The three-time Pro Bowl lineman was injured in the closing minutes of the Bears' 24-10 victory over the New York Jets last weekend. Tight end Dion Sims rolled into Long while the two were blocking for Jordan Howard on a run.
Trubisky throws 2 TDs as Bears beat Jets 24-10
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bears got the win they sorely needed, only to lose another key player.
Guard Kyle Long had to be helped off the field in the closing minutes with an injured right foot, putting a damper on a 24-10 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday.
Nagy insists Howard still has big role in Bears’ offense
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Coach Matt Nagy insisted Jordan Howard remains a big part of Chicago's offense and the star running back was adamant he wasn't frustrated despite a limited role in the most recent victory.
"This is not going to be an offense where it's just one person and it goes through one person," Nagy said Monday. "I don't necessarily believe in that. It's great when you have everybody fulfilling different roles and it's hard for the defense when you do that."
