RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Marcus Evans scored 17 points, including VCU's final seven points, and the Rams beat Dayton 76-71 on Wednesday night to end the Flyers' six-game winning streak.
Evans nailed a deep 3-pointer from the top of the key for a 72-69 lead with 33.8 remaining. Dayton missed a driving layup in traffic and Evans was fouled and hit two free throws with 22.9 to go.

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Jordan Davis scored 21 points and Jalen Crutcher's go-ahead 3-pointer with 56 seconds left helped send Dayton past UMass 72-67 on Sunday.
Rashaan Holloway's jumper with 1:36 remaining tied it at 67 for the Minutemen but they missed their last two shot attempts thereafter. Trey Landers made two of four foul shots in the final 13 seconds and Dayton (11-5, 3-0 Atlantic 10) held on. Dayton led 38-33 at halftime and never trailed after intermission.
Cunningham, Dayton roll past Richmond in Atlantic 10 opener
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Josh Cunningham scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Dayton rolled past Richmond 72-48 on Sunday in an Atlantic 10 opener.
Cunningham was 11-of-14 shooting in reaching 1,000 career points and posting his first double-double this season and the 11th in the senior's career. The Flyers, the conference leaders in shooting percentage, shot 53 percent though they made only 3 of 20 3-point tries, but they dominated points in the paint 54-12.
Dayton holds off Georgia Southern 94-90
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Josh Cunningham scored 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting to help Dayton beat Georgia Southern 94-90 in the final nonconference game for both teams on Saturday.

Pipkins’ late 3 carries UMass past Dayton in 2 OT, 86-82
AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Luwane Pipkins drilled a controversial 3-pointer in the final minute of the second overtime period and Unique McLean added a late jumper as Massachusetts held off Dayton in an Atlantic 10 battle, 86-82 on Saturday afternoon, snapping a five-game losing streak.
Pipkins came up with a loose ball after a scramble and launched his shot as the shot clock expired. Officials counted the trey, but photos show the ball on Pipkins' fingers as the shot clock hit zero.

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Luwane Pipkins scored 25 points, Carl Pierre added 15 and Massachusetts beat Dayton 62-60 on Saturday.
UMass made it a game with a 14-2 run — with seven points from Pierre — spanning halftime. The Minutemen trailed 30-20 with 3:21 left in the first half and Dayton didn't get on the board in the second until the 17:31 mark.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Rene Castro-Caneddy scored 21 points, Eric Williams Jr. added 15 and Duquesne closed with a 10-1 run to open Atlantic-10 play with a 70-62 win over Dayton on Saturday.
The Flyers erased a seven-point deficit with a 7-0 run midway through the second half and pulled within one on a jumper by Josh Cunningham with 5:33 remaining. DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Josh Cunningham sank the go-ahead free throws and finished with a career-high 29 points while grabbing 18 rebounds to help Dayton slip past Georgia State in overtime for an 88-83 win on Saturday.
Dayton (5-5) used a 7-0 burst fueled with Cunningham's dunk followed by his go-ahead free throws and capped by a 3-pointer from Jordan Davis to make it 82-78 with just over a minute to play. The Flyers then went 6 for 6 from the line over the final 20 seconds to seal it.

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Sam Jones, who took all his shots from 3-point range, sank a pair of key 3s late in the game as Penn held off a surge by Dayton to defeat the Flyers 78-70 on Saturday.
