CLEVELAND (AP) — Jeremy Harris scored 22 points and CJ Massinburg scored 14 and Buffalo beat Kent State 78-61 on Friday and advanced to the Mid-American Conference Tournament title game.
The top-seeded Bulls (25-8) will play Friday night's other semifinal winner between second seed Toledo and No. 3 Eastern Michigan.
KENT, Ohio (AP) — Kevin Zabo had 19 points, including a layup as time expired, and Jalen Avery scored eight of his 13 points in the final seven-plus minutes to help Kent State slip past Northern Illinois 61-59 on Monday night in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Akron slips past Kent State 67-65
AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Daniel Utomi had 20 points and eight rebounds, Eric Parrish made a pair of free throws with three seconds left on Friday night and Akron closed the regular season with a 67-65 win over Kent State.
The Zips (15-16, 9-9 Mid-American Conference) held the Golden Flashes (13-17, 6-12) scoreless for the final 3:38 and scored five points, all at the foul line, during that time. Utomi split two pairs of free throws, the second making it 65-all with 1:43 left.
Pippen is clutch, Kent State edges Miami (Ohio) 90-83 OT
KENT, Ohio (AP) — Kevin Zabo scored 21 points, sophomore Danny Pippen scored 17 and blocked a potential game-winning shot in regulation and scored seven points in overtime as Kent State went the extra five minutes to defeat Miami (Ohio) 90-83 Tuesday night.
Kent State (15-15, 9-8 Mid-American) has won two straight, but lost a chance for a first-round bye in the MAC Tournament after Eastern Michigan also won Tuesday.
Avery’s late FTs give Kent St. 64-63 win over Bowling Green
KENT, Ohio (AP) — Jalen Avery made two free throws with 3.9 seconds left for the fifth lead change in the final minute and Kent State defeated Bowling Green 64-63 on Saturday night.
Avery took the ball coast-to-coast, driving hard to the basket after Demajeo Wiggins had given the Falcons the lead with free throws at 8.4 seconds.
Dartis sparks Ohio to 88-76 win over Kent State
ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Jordan Dartis sank half of his 10 3-point attempts and scored 20 to lead six players in double figures and Ohio won back-to-back Mid-American Conference games for the first time this season with an 88-76 victory over Kent State on Tuesday night.
Walker, Avery lead Kent State past Akron 78-68
KENT, Ohio (AP) — Jaylin Walker tossed in 27 points, sinking 7 of 12 shots from 3-point range, and Kent State pulled away late to beat Akron 78-68 on Saturday to snap a four-game losing streak.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Jeremy Harris had 24 points and Wes Clark scored 19, including three 3-pointers, to help Buffalo beat Kent State 84-72 on Tuesday night.
Harris and Clark combined to make 17 of 29 (58.6 percent) from the field. Nick Perkins had 15 points and 10 rebounds, while CJ Massinburg added eight points, nine rebounds and seven assists for Buffalo (19-7, 11-2 Mid-American Conference).
Kent State uses strong 2nd half to beat Central Michigan
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Kevin Zabo had 22 points, Jaylin Walker added 21 and Kent State overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to beat Central Michigan 84-76 on Saturday.
Zabo's 3-pointer with 1:27 left made it 74-67 and Micah Peterson extended the lead to 78-69 on a pair of free throws at 1:01. The Chippewas got within five on Matt Beachler's 3 with 38 seconds left, but the Golden Flashes (11-10, 5-3 Mid-American Conference) made 3 of 4 free throws to hold on for the victory.
Zabo’s hot hand in OT lifts Kent State over Ball State 88-80
KENT, Ohio (AP) — Kevin Zabo scored seven of his 21 points in overtime and Danny Pippen finished with a double-double to power Kent State to an 88-80 victory over Ball State on Tuesday night.
Pippen scored 11 with 16 rebounds for the Golden Flashes (10-10, 4-3 Mid-American Conference), who beat the Cardinals for a 15th straight time. Adonis De La Rosa finished with 15 points and eight rebounds, Jaylin Walker scored 17 with seven boards and Jalen Avery and BJ Duling added 10 points each.
Fletcher scores 17 with 12 boards, Toledo beats Kent State
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Tre'Shaun Fletcher had his eighth double-double of the season, including seven points in the final four minutes, and Luke Knapke had 16 points and nine rebounds to help Toledo beat Kent State 72-65 on Saturday night for its fifth win in a row.
Fletcher finished 17 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Jaelen Sanford added 14 points and five assists and Marreon Jackson scored 11 for Toledo (13-6, 5-1 Mid-American Conference).
Zabo, Peterson lead Kent State past Western Michigan 73-71
KENT, Ohio (AP) — Kevin Zabo tossed in 23 points, Mitch Peterson made a putback just before the buzzer and Kent State beat Western Michigan 73-71 on Tuesday night.
On Kent State's final possession, Zabo drove the middle of the lane but had his shot blocked. It fell to Danny Pippen, who came up short on a hook and it was knocked out to Peterson for the game-winner.
Zabo, De La Rosa spark Kent State to 70-69 victory
KENT, Ohio (AP) — Kevin Zabo scored 24 points and Adonis De La Rosa scored on a jump hook with 21 seconds remaining to lead Kent State past Ohio 70-69 on Friday night.
Kent led 37-31 at halftime before Ohio (8-8, 1-3 Mid-American) rallied and tied it at 67-all with 2:40 remaining on Gavin Block's 3-pointer. Teyvion Kirk layup gave the Bobcats a 69-68 lead with two minutes left.

N. Illinois uses 16-3 run to down Kent St. 72-59
DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Levi Bradley scored 25 points and a tied a career-high with 14 rebounds and Northern Illinois pulled away in the second half to beat Kent State 75-61 on Tuesday night in a Mid-American Conference opener.
Bradley also set a career best with 14-of-14 shooting from the free throw line. Northern Illinois led 33-32 at halftime before Desmond Ridenour's layup put the Golden Flashes up 51-48 with 11 minutes left.
De La Rosa, Kent State hold off Cleveland State 72-62
KENT, Ohio (AP) — Adonis De La Rosa scored 16 points with seven rebounds and three assists to propel Kent State to a 72-62 victory over Cleveland State on Saturday.
Kevin Zabo added 17 points, but he was just 1 of 8 from 3-point range as the Golden Flashes (5-3) connected on 5 of 26 (19.2 percent) from long range. Jalen Avery had 15 points and BJ Duling scored 10 for Kent State (5-3).

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Adonis De La Rosa had 19 points and 10 rebounds, Jalen Avery scored 18 points, and Kent State beat winless Norfolk State 79-70 on Wednesday night.
Kevin Zabo scored 15 points with four assists and Danny Pippen and Mitch Peterson grabbed seven rebounds apiece for the Green Flashes (4-3).
