Timbers get 1-1 road draw against Revolution
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Lawrence Olum tied it in the 70th minute and the Portland Timbers held on for a 1-1 draw with the New England Revolution on Saturday night.
Olum leveled it for Portland (11-7-8) with a right-footed stab at Julio Cascante's redirection of David Guzman's corner.
Lamah, Maurer help FC Dallas to 1-1 draw with Timbers
FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Roland Lamah scored his third goal in two games and Jimmy Maurer had a career-high five saves in FC Dallas' 1-1 tie with the Portland Timbers on Saturday.
Lamah, who had two goals and an assists in FC Dallas' 3-0 win over Seattle on Sunday, opened the scoring in the 36th minute. Jacori Hayes evaded two defenders and then tapped it to Lamah, who rolled a left-footer past a diving Jake Gleeson into the net from the top of the penalty arc.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Disappointed at the way last season ended, the Portland Timbers moved on with a decisive win over the expansion Minnesota United.
Diego Valeri and Fanendo Adi each scored twice for the Timbers in the 5-1 victory on Friday night in the first match of the year for Major League Soccer, now in its 22nd season. The rest of the 22 teams will play this weekend.
Sporting KC sends Olum to Timbers for 1st-round draft pick
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Sporting Kansas City has traded midfielder Lawrence Olum to the Portland Timbers for a first-round pick in the 2018 draft and $50,000 in general allocation money.
The Major League Soccer club announced the trade Friday.
Sporting KC picks up 5 club options, reshapes its roster
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Sporting Kansas City has exercised club options on midfielders Benji Joya and Lawrence Olum and defenders Saad Abdul-Salaam, Jimmy Medranda and Seth Sinovic for next season.
The club also announced Wednesday that Nuno Andre Coelho, Kevin Ellis, Alec Kann, Chance Myers, Jacob Peterson and Paulo Nagamura were no longer under contract, though Ellis and Kann have been extended offers and contract negotiations are ongoing.
