NOTTINGHAM, England (AP) — Roy Keane is back in soccer management at the club where he started his professional career.
The former Manchester United captain has been hired as assistant manager of second-tier English club Nottingham Forest, an appointment that sees him link up again with Martin O'Neill.
O'Neill, who was recently hired as Forest manager, had Keane as his No. 2 when in charge of Ireland's national team. They both left their positions with Ireland in November.
2 purloined penguins returned to UK zoo; both are fine
LONDON (AP) — Nottinghamshire Police in England have located and returned two purloined penguins missing from a local zoo since November.
Police said Friday that a 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft in the case.
Police say the Humboldt penguins were found Wednesday in a residence in Nottingham, 130 miles (210 kilometers) north of London. Officials say the birds "safe and well."

The holder will begin the defense of the trophy on Jan. 5 with a home match against second-tier Nottingham Forest, which eliminated Arsenal at this stage last season.
3rd-tier Burton Albion into English League Cup for 1st time
LONDON (AP) — Burton Albion, a team in 16th place in the third tier of English soccer, reached the League Cup quarterfinals for the first time in its 68-year history by beating Nottingham Forest 3-2 on Tuesday.
The unheralded club from central England was joined in the last eight by Premier League team Bournemouth, which continued its strong start to the season with a 2-1 win over second-tier Norwich.
UK union calls for 24-hour strike of Uber drivers
LONDON (AP) — A British union has called for a 24-hour strike of Uber drivers in London, Birmingham and Nottingham, putting up a "digital picket line" to demand better pay and conditions.
The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain, the IWGB, is asking the public to support drivers "by not crossing the digital picket line by not using the app during strike time." The strike begins Tuesday, and it was not clear how many drivers would join in.
Newcastle loses to Nottingham Forest in League Cup
LONDON (AP) — Newcastle's poor start to the season only got worse on Wednesday as the Premier League team conceded two late goals in a 3-1 loss to second-division club Nottingham Forest in the English League Cup.
Newcastle had leveled the game at 1-1 in injury time through Salomon Rondon, only for Matty Cash and Gil Dias to score in the final minutes for the host.

Bairstow wants to resume wicket-keeper role for England
SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) — Jonny Bairstow says he is ready to resume his role as wicket-keeper for England in the fourth test against India, barely a week after breaking his finger.
Bairstow fractured a bone in the middle finger of his left hand midway through the third test in Nottingham, which India won to reduce the deficit in the five-match series to 2-1.
He took the gloves for training on Tuesday, having earlier said the swelling had gone down on his finger.
Kohli century leaves England facing big task to win 3rd test

Stokes out of England squad while affray trial continues
LONDON (AP) — Ben Stokes has been left out of England's unchanged 13-man squad for the third cricket test against India while he remains on trial for his involvement in a street fight.

NOTTINGHAM, England (AP) — Kuldeep Yadav and Rohit Sharma spearheaded India as they crushed England by eight wickets in the first one-day international at Trent Bridge on Thursday.
