CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle said he wanted his team to penetrate the lane, draw the opponent's big man and drop the ball off to 7-footer Kylor Kelley down low.
"Kylor is, I think, maybe the best finisher in our league at the rim," he added.
Kelley was a perfect 6 for 6 from the field and finished with 14 points and five blocks as Oregon State defeated UCLA 79-66 on Sunday night.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Belmont Bruins visited the UCLA Hall of Fame to learn about the tradition of the other Bruins they were about to play.
Then Belmont went out and made history of its own.
Kevin McClain scored 20 points and hit the go-ahead layup with 2.3 seconds left, lifting Belmont over UCLA 74-72 on Saturday in what coach Rick Byrd said was the Tennessee school's biggest win since stunning North Carolina in 2013.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hobbled by leg cramps, Kris Wilkes left the court for several minutes in the second half. He limped away at the end a hero.
Wilkes hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 0.1 seconds remaining, lifting UCLA to a 65-62 victory over Notre Dame on Saturday night after the Bruins blew a 14-point lead.
Wilkes ran backward, staggered and collapsed in agony as his teammates erupted in celebration near the basket.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — UCLA blew a double-digit lead in the second half when its star guard Aaron Holiday left the game in foul trouble. But he came back in time to rescue the Bruins and lead them to an overtime victory.

BERKELEY,Calif. (AP) — Aaron Holiday scored 21 points, Thomas Walsh added 19 more and UCLA defeated California 107-84 on Saturday.
The Bruins (12-4, 3-1 Pac-12) reached a season-high in points, picking up their fifth win in the past six games. They beat California (7-9, 1-2) for a fifth time in seven games.
All five UCLA starters reached double digits in scoring.
Kris Wilkes finished with 16 points, Prince Ali had 15 points and Alex Olesinski had 14.
Hands leads UCLA transition game with big dunks in big win
LOS ANGELES (AP) — UCLA freshman Jaylen Hands said he isn't as explosive as he wants to be since he's retuned from a foot injury.
Imagine the kind of dunks he can score on when he's 100 percent. The assortment of high-flying dunks he threw down Sunday were quite impressive.
Hands scored a career-high 23 points off the bench, and Prince Ali added 20 points to lead UCLA to a 106-73 win over Detroit Mercy on Sunday.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prince Ali was given an opportunity to crack the starting lineup at UCLA. Bruins coach Steve Alford doesn't put much weight into who starts and who doesn't but rather puts stock in the contributions from his players.
It was clear Ali took much pride in the starting nod. He scored 16 of his career-high 21 points in the first half and No. 23 UCLA beat UC Irvine 87-63 on Sunday.
"I just wanted to come in, play defense and be aggressive," Ali said.

Ali and Olesinski to redshirt season for UCLA basketball
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Sophomores Prince Ali and Alex Olesinski have decided to redshirt this season for No. 4 UCLA.
Neither player has appeared in a game this season, although both have resumed practicing for the Bruins. The team announced the news on Wednesday night.
Ali underwent surgery last summer to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. The guard from the Bronx averaged 3.9 points and 1.1 rebounds in 29 games last season.
