MANCHESTER, England (AP) — David Beckham has joined some of his former Manchester United teammates by investing in fifth-tier English team Salford.
The move comes five years after Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt first bought a stake in the non-league team, which is located less than eight kilometers (five miles) from United's Old Trafford.

CARDIFF, Wales (AP) — Ryan Giggs was hired as coach of Wales' national soccer team on Monday, his first full-time coaching job since ending an illustrious playing career with Manchester United.
Giggs' only previous experience as a manager was in 2014, when he took temporary charge of United for the final four games of the Premier League season following the firing of David Moyes.

LONDON (AP) — Queen Elizabeth II is honoring the former Manchester United youth team soccer coach who helped to launch David Beckham's career.
Eric Harrison developed the renowned "Class of 92" at United that also featured winger Ryan Giggs, midfielder Paul Scholes and the Neville brothers, Phil and Gary, who played in defense.
In the British monarch's New Year honors list, the 79-year-old Harrison has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire, or MBE.
Britton fills in as Swansea coach after Clement fired
SWANSEA, Wales (AP) — Player-coach Leon Britton will take charge of Swansea for its Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Saturday following the departure of manager Paul Clement.
The 35-year-old Britton, who has been a midfielder for Swansea for the last 15 years, joined the coaching staff last month.
Britton said he doesn't want to take the job on a full-time basis.

LONDON (AP) — Gareth Barry made a record 633rd English Premier League appearance but had little to celebrate.
The 36-year-old midfielder captained West Bromwich Albion in a 2-0 loss at Arsenal on Monday as he passed the mark set by former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs.
Barry's next target is breaking Giggs' top-flight record of 672 appearances, encompassing matches before the Premier League started in 1992.
