Roback sets career record in Eastern Michigan’s 27-24 win
OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Brogan Roback threw a pair of third-quarter touchdown passes to Sergio Bailey, rallying Eastern Michigan to a 27-24 victory over Miami (Ohio) on a Wednesday night in which the Eagles quarterback became the school's all-time total offense leader.
Roback connected with Bailey on 32- and 10-yard touchdown passes to lead 27-17.
Kent State rallies past Miami (OH) 17-14
KENT, Ohio (AP) — George Bollas threw two third-quarter touchdown passes, including an 84-yarder to Mike Carrigan for the go-ahead score, and Kent State rallied for a 17-14 victory over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Former Wahpeton High School and North Dakota State University football standout Ryan Smith has retired from professional football.
Smith's pro career took him north of the border, where he played two seasons for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and one for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.
The 25-year-old receiver recently announced his retirement, saying he wants to pursue interests outside of football.
Rose scores 18, helps Temple pull away late to beat Tulane
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Quinton Rose scored six of his 18 points in the final three minutes to help Temple pull away from Tulane for a 79-71 victory on Tuesday night.
The Owls had an 11-point lead before Cameron Reynolds scored eight of Tulane's next 10 points to pull the Green Wave to 69-66 with 3:27 remaining. Rose's layup and jump shot made it 73-69 with 53 seconds left, and the Owls shot 6 of 6 from the line, including two from Rose, to seal it.
Gilder-Tilbury, Conley hit big shots in Texas State’s OT win
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Kavin Gilder-Tilbury scored 23 points and Bobby Conley 14, and both hit key shots to lead Texas State over Tulane 69-66 in overtime on Friday.
Gilder-Tilbury sank a contested, high-arcing 3-pointer with 10 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 60 and send it to overtime where Conley made a 3-pointer with 38 seconds left for what proved to be the game-winner.
Pewamo-Westphalia beats Loyola in Division 7 final
DETROIT (AP) — DETROIT (AP) — Junior quarterback Jimmy Lehman threw for 127 yards and two touchdowns, leading Pewamo-Westphalia to a 28-14 victory over Detroit Loyola in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 7 final.
Logan Hengesbach had 51 yards receiving and two touchdowns on Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit, and Ryan Smith added 81 yards rushing and a score for the victorious Pirates (14-0), who won the program's first state title in football.
Harris has career-high, Tulane rolls over SE Louisiana 93-76
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Kain Harris had a career-high 19 points to help lead Tulane to a dominating 93-76 win over Southeastern Louisiana on Monday night.
Harris was 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, making 7 of 11 field goal attempts.
Ryan Smith had the first double-double of his career and had career best in points (14) and rebounds (10). Malik Morgan added 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Cameron Reynolds chipped in 13 points, and Colin Slater had 12 for Tulane (1-1).
