Morgan all-time Cornell scorer after win in Ivy opener
ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Matt Morgan scored 21 points in becoming Cornell's all-time leading scorer and the Big Red opened the Ivy League season with a 60-59 victory over Columbia on Saturday.
Morgan made four 3-pointers and the senior guard finished with 2,044 career points, passing Ryan Wittman (2006-10, 2,028 points) and also Brown's Earl Hunt (1999-03, 2,041) for No. 3 on the Ivy career list.
Cornell shot 56.3 percent from the field and got a combined 41 points from Louis Dale and Ryan Wittman in its 11-point win over Temple. In just the fifth NCAA tournament appearance in school history, the Big Red knocked off Wisconsin in the second round to advance to the Sweet 16, where the team lost to No. 1 seed Kentucky, 62-45.
