HONOLULU (AP) — A judge on Thursday denied Hawaii's move to compel Airbnb to hand over a decade of vacation rental receipts as the state examines whether hosts have been paying the equivalent of hotel and sales taxes.
Hawaii First Circuit Court Judge James Ashford said the state did not sufficiently show that Airbnb users may have failed to comply with tax laws.

Governor pitches plan to tax more services, cut overall rate
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Gov. Gary Herbert pitched his plan of adding new sales taxes while cutting the overall rate to a taxpayers' group on Monday, foreshadowing an issue that could be contentious during the upcoming legislative session.
The Republican Herbert told the Utah Taxpayers Association that economic changes have significantly narrowed the sales tax base, and now is the time to act.
"We cannot kick this can down the road much longer," Herbert said.
Missouri lawmakers to consider sports betting, redistricting

Georgia battles Uber in dispute over millions of dollars
ATLANTA (AP) — Uber could owe tens of millions of dollars to Georgia if the state is successful in a legal battle.
The Georgia Department of Revenue has billed Uber $22.1 million for sales taxes and other charges that it maintains are owed by the company.
Ride-hailing services do not pay sales taxes in Georgia. But the department says they should under Georgia law, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
