PADERBORN, Germany (AP) — German side Paderborn has signed two forwards from the United States to help its bid for promotion back to the Bundesliga.
The second-division club says Khiry Shelton is joining from Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City, and Mohammed Kamara is switching from University of California. Both took part in training on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Shelton, who made his MLS debut in 2015 for New York City, was getting a contract through June 2021.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Sporting Kansas City traded starting forward Diego Rubio to the Colorado Rapids for midfielder Kelyn Rowe and $300,000 in allocation money on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Rubio, who was entering the final year of his contract, scored 15 goals in 51 regular-season MLS games for Sporting KC. He also had two goals in the MLS Cup Playoffs after he was acquire two years ago from Real Valladolid in the Spanish second division.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Sporting Kansas City has signed longtime defender Seth Sinovic to a contract extension through next season, three days before facing Portland in the return match for the Western Conference championship.
The 31-year-old Sinovic has helped Sporting KC win three U.S. Open Cups and an MLS Cup title after signing with his hometown club in 2011. He has helped pitch 62 shutouts over the last eight regular seasons, and the club is 85-48-46 when he's in the starting lineup.

ATLANTA (AP) — Josef Martinez, Franco Escobar and Hector Villalba scored and Atlanta United blew out the Supporters' Shield-winning New York Red Bulls 3-0 on Sunday in the opening leg of the Eastern Conference final.
Atlanta gave itself a huge edge heading into the second leg Thursday night in Harrison, New Jersey. The winner of the two-game, cumulative-goals series will host the MLS Cup final Dec. 8 against Portland or Sporting Kansas City.
MLS conference championships open Sunday
The Major League Soccer playoffs re-start on Sunday, with the Portland Timbers hosting Sporting Kansas City and Atlanta United hosting the New York Red Bulls.
The two leg conference championships come following a two-week international break.
For Atlanta coach Tata Martino, the conference final has added meaning: A shot at the MLS Cup in his final season with the team. Martino, the MLS Coach of the Year, will leave United following the season and could become Mexico's coach.

Felipe Gutierrez opened the scoring in the 18th minute for Sporting KC (15-7-6), which moved a point ahead of FC Dallas in the standings. Fernandes doubled the lead five minutes later with a run behind the defense and a chip shot to beat the goalkeeper.

NEW YORK (AP) — David Villa tied it in the 86th minute off a free kick and New York City FC snapped a two-game skid with a 1-1 draw with D.C. United on Saturday.
Bill Hamid had seven of his eight saves before Villa broke through with a bender from just beyond the top of the penalty arc for City (14-8-7). It was Villa's 11th goal of the season.
