Pirates acquire minor leaguer Wilkin Ramos from A’s
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired minor league right-hander Wilkin Ramos from Oakland as the player to be named from the last month's trade of right-hander Tanner Anderson to the Athletics.
The teams announced the move Saturday. The 18-year-old Ramos went 3-3 with a 3.15 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 14 appearances, including eight starts, with the Dominican Summer League Athletics in 2018.
A’s acquire RHP Tanner Anderson from Pirates
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Athletics have acquired right-hander Tanner Anderson from the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named or cash.
Oakland also added outfielders Luis Barrera and Skye Bolt, and right-handers Grant Holmes and James Kaprielian to the 40-man roster on Tuesday. Oakland now has 39 players on the roster.
Pirates demote OF Austin Meadows to Triple-A
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates demoted outfielder Austin Meadows to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday and recalled right-handed reliever Tanner Anderson.
The 23-year-old Meadows was the team's first-round pick in the 2013 draft. He hit .298 in 48 games with Pittsburgh, but he has lost playing time to Corey Dickerson and Gregory Polanco. In July, Meadows hit .233 as his playing opportunities declined.
