Graduation rate at teen moms school above national average
WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) — A Maine school for teenage mothers reports a graduation rate nearly double the average for such teens.
Maine Public reports that nine students are currently attending the Sharon Abrams Teen Parent School in Waterville.
BRIDGEPORT — With no discussion, the school board unanimously put the wheels in motion Monday to create a day care center for teen parents at the new Harding High School.
The vote followed several committee meetings where plans for the three-classroom facility was discussed.
When the new Harding High School opens next fall, it will not only welcome just shy of 1,000 teenagers, but as many as 24 infants and toddlers as well.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A bill that would require schools to accommodate pregnant and parenting students is headed to a final vote in the Nebraska Legislature despite opposition from rural lawmakers.
Senators advanced the bill Tuesday after defeating an amendment backed by conservative lawmakers that would remove most of the requirements. Opponents argue the measure is an unfunded mandate on school districts.
