Police: Thief broke into used bookstore for valuable books
WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Police in suburban Philadelphia say a thief made off with rare and valuable books from a used bookstore, including a rare edition of "To Kill A Mockingbird."
Baldwin Book's Barn manager Fred Dannaway says the thief took at least 20 rare books from a case at the front of the West Chester-area bookstore. Dannaway says the thief didn't touch money in the register and left behind other expensive books displayed on a nearby counter.
Man accused of feeding child crystal methamphetamine
WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man earlier accused of leaving three young children in a running vehicle with a gun now faces charges that he gave one of the youngsters crystal methamphetamine.
Chester County prosecutors say 43-year-old Harold Nuse of Honey Brook is charged with child endangerment, drug delivery and other offenses.

Man who killed teen in road rage shooting gets 20-40 years
WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man who pleaded guilty to fatally shooting a recent high school graduate in a fit of road rage should spend at least 20 years in prison after an emotional sentencing at which he, the victim's family and even the judge cried.
David Desper was sentenced to 20 to 40 years, and the judge told him she didn't believe he acted out of fear as he contended.

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — A sentencing date has been set for a Pennsylvania man who pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the shooting death of a recent high school graduate during a road rage confrontation.
The Daily Local reports David Desper faces a maximum of 45 years in prison during his sentencing scheduled for Dec. 13.

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania state trooper convicted of punching a handcuffed man during a drunken-driving arrest has been sentenced to up to a year in jail.
John Sromovsky was captured on video punching 25-year-old Lorenzo Lopez in September 2016, while Lopez was handcuffed and seated in a patrol car.
Prosecutors say Lopez had been crying, and Sromovsky threatened to give him "a reason to cry." They say Lopez was defenseless and didn't pose a threat.

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — A coroner has released the identities of four victims of a fire that tore through a Pennsylvania senior living community nearly two weeks ago.
The Chester County coroner's office says the victims were 93-year-old Mildred Gadde; 85-year-old Theresa Malloy; 89-year-old Delores Parker; and her husband, 92-year-old Thomas Parker.
All died of smoke inhalation in the overnight fire at Barclay Friends in West Chester on Nov. 17.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says the remains were found Wednesday inside the charred shell of Barclay Friends Senior Living Community in West Chester, near Philadelphia.
Investigators had located the remains of the first two victims on Tuesday.
