Eleven Wayne County Employees Say They Share Latest Lotto Jackpot
DETROIT (AP) _ Eleven Wayne County employees who bet as a group will split last week’s $2.2 million Michigan Lotto jackpot, a group member says.
The winners are members of the county’s Risk Management Division, Salvatore Saputo, director of the office and one of the winners, said Monday.
″It seems like we finally found a risk worth taking,″ Saputo said. ″This is just fantastic.″
He said each of the employees in the Lotto group would get about $10,000 per year through the year 2004.
The group will redeem its winning ticket after registering with the Internal Revenue Service and telling two vacationing members they are winners, Saputo said. It may be two weeks before the ticket is redeemed, he added.
A clerical supervisor in the office, which handles insurance matters for the county, picked the winning numbers of 2, 11, 16, 24, 26 and 38 by selecting some of them with a dream interpretation book, Saputo said.
″The staff’s just been ecstatic all day,″ Saputo said.
