Woman Finds Live Grenade In Yard
WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) _ A woman turning over a compost pile in her yard dug up two hand grenades, both of which were harmless, police said.
Roslyn Kaplan said she noticed two green things sticking out of the ground on Tuesday.
″They looked like a couple of peppers,″ police Detective Peter L. Keegan said.
Keegan and Detective Vincent A. Paolino called the state police bomb squad, which removed the grenades.
Local police had said one of the grenades was live, but state police said Wednesday both grenades lacked explosives.
