William & Mary 41, VMI 12
LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) _ David Conklin caught nine passes for 240 yards and three of William & Mary’s five aerial touchdowns Saturday and the Tribe gained 596 yards in a 41-12 victory over Virginia Military Institute.
It was William & Mary’s 12th straight victory and 15th in the last 16 games of the series. The Tribe holds a 40-33-2 advantage since 1905.
Conklin scored on a 44-yard pass from Mike Cook, a 54-yarder from Steve Fill and a 42-yarder from Daron Pope. Chris Rosier caught the other two scoring passes on throws of 8 and 6 yards, both from the starter, Cook.
Cook finished 18-for-26 for 294 yards as the Tribe gained 498 yards through the air. Fill was 8-for-12 for 162 yards. Pope was 1-for-2.
VMI actually led 12-3 after the first quarter, scoring on a safety, Mike Harris’ 37-yard field goal and Avi Hopkins’ 6-yard run. Hopkins finished with 123 yards on 22 carries, but the Keydets’ offense totaled just 269 yards.
