Michael Avenatti: Stormy Daniels ‘vindicated’ by Michael Cohen guilty plea

August 22, 2018

Stormy Daniels “feels vindicated” by Michael Cohen’s guilty plea, her lawyer Michael Avenatti said on Wednesday.

During an interview on CNN’s “New Day,” Mr. Avenatti said he plans on deposing both Mr. Cohen and President Trump for their civil lawsuit.

“She’s looking forward to this process playing out. She understands that this is a long road. We’re in about the second quarter of a four-quarter game,” he said.

Mr. Cohen pleaded guilty on Tuesday to campaign finance violations, bank fraud and tax evasion. He issued hush money payments to cover up allegations made by Playboy bunnies Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels, who said they had affairs with the president.

Mr. Avenatti said he plans to ask about the communications and instructions Mr. Trump allegedly gave to Mr. Cohen about paying off Ms. Daniels. Mr. Cohen and Mr. Trump are both at the top of the lawyer’s deposition list.

If the deposition goes forward, he intends on personally questioning the president.

“I think there’s little question that we’ll get that deposition. It goes to the heart of the civil case we filed back in March in Los Angeles.”
