Two Found Dead in Conn. House
MILFORD, Conn. (AP)_ Police searching a home after arresting a man who held several people hostage there early Wednesday found two people dead, both with stab wounds.
Russell Dortche, 42, was charged with murder, felony murder and sexual assault.
Police were called to the home at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday about a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, Dortche yelled from a second-floor window that he had hostages and warned police not to enter, authorities said.
About two hours later, he called police to say he was ready to give up.
Two women had escaped from the home’s first floor during the standoff, and a woman and 4-year-old girl, Dortche’s daughter, were released after Dortche agreed to give up, police said. They said the woman had been sexually assaulted.
Dortche was taken into custody without incident.
Officers who entered the home afterward found the bodies of two men. Their names were not immediately released.
Police said the 4-year-old had witnessed the killings.
Dortche was arraigned Wednesday afternoon. He was on probation for a previous larceny conviction and was ordered held on $5 million bond.
