Athletes Barely Mentioned In Article

November 9, 2018

Editor: Regretfully, The Citizens’ Voice article regarding the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony was somewhat inaccurate (Nov. 4). Abby Peck, an Olympic rower, and Kathleen Klein Prindle, an Olympic swim coach, are two women bringing distinction upon themselves and Lackawanna County. They were barely mentioned and this is a disservice to them and to the area. Abby is not only an Olympian, but has dedicated herself to helping cancer survivors through her innovative exercise program right here in Dunmore. She is a staunch supporter of these women and men who continued to thrive with the help of her programs. Kathleen has established her own swim club, Performance Aquatics (Florida), teaching young people the skills needed to compete on the world stage. She has instructed elite athletes from more than 18 countries, which enables them to compete throughout the world and at the Olympics. These two outstanding local women have earned the right of recognition Also, while the Luzerne Chapter PSHF assisted, along with collaboration of the other six regional chapters, it was the local chapter which hosted this prestigious event. The Northeastern Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame with Bob Walsh as President presided over the 56th annual banquet with 360 people in attendance, to celebrate with noted athletes throughout the state.
