Italy flyhalf Haimona out for 3 months with broken arm
ROME (AP) — Italy and Zebre flyhalf Kelly Haimona will be sidelined for three months following an operation on a broken right arm.
Haimona fractured his forearm on Saturday in the opening minutes of Italy’s 61-20 Six Nations defeat to title-chasing Wales.
The Italian rugby federation says on Wednesday, a day after the operation in Fidenza, the op is “a complete success.”
Barring complications, New Zealand-born Haimona should return at the end of June, giving him time to prepare for the Rugby World Cup in September.
Italy’s tournament opener is against France at Twickenham on Sept. 19. It also faces Canada, Ireland and Romania in Pool D.
