A 17-year-old man has been charged in connection with the weekend shooting death of another man, police said Friday.

Bennjamin Wright, 17, of Fayetteville, has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Christopher Lock, 29, of Fayetteville, on Dec. 16 at a home in the 500 block of Duggins Way, police said in a written statement.

Wright turned himself in to the Cumberland County Detention Center, where he was being held Friday in lieu of a $50,000 bond, police said.

Authorities said someone called 911 at about 9:20 p.m. and said a man had been shot inside the house.

When officers arrived on scene, they found Lock suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was rushed for medical care to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not yet said what prompted the shooting or how the suspect knew the victim.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact Detective J. Littlejohn at 910-818-3468
