Meth package in mail leads to arrests

HUNTINGTON — Two men were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance after allegedly picking up a package of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

Christopher Jason Johnson, 36, was jailed at 7:50 p.m. Friday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy. Bond was set at $100,000.

Stewart Longworth Jordan III, 26, was jailed at 7:50 p.m. Friday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy and parole hold. Bond was set at $1 million cash-only.

According to the complaints, members of the Violent Crime and Drug Task Force West performed a controlled delivery of a postal package that was seized during parcel interdiction and contained a distribution amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine. The package was left outside of a residence in the 1000 block of Euclid Place in Huntington.

Jordan allegedly got out of a vehicle driven by Johnson, picked up the package and began walking toward the vehicle when officers approached the suspects and identified themselves.

Both men are in Western Regional Jail.
