Huntington High holds off Belfry
The Herald-Dispatch BELFRY, Ky. — Huntington High won a hard-fought game against Belfry, 17-9, Friday night in the Pike County Bowl football season opener at CAM Stadium.
Isaiah Carpenter’s 33-yard field goal with 2:41 remaining provided the Highlanders with a cushion and put the pressure on Belfry to make a final push. The Highlanders made a defensive stand and took the ball back with 1:13 to go.
Belfry had clawed to within 14-9 with 9:01 left on Grayson Cook’s 29-yard field goal.
Touchdown runs by Ty Wilcoxon and Bryce Damous gave Huntington High the halftime lead, 14-0. Isaac Dixon had a third-quarter scoring run for the Pirates.
