PARKER — A Town of Parker employee says Town Manager Lori Wedemeyer improperly used town credit cards to purchase $48,900 in gift cards.
In a letter dated Sept. 6 and sent to Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich and Parker Police Chief Clay Romo, Corina Crispin alleged Wedemeyer purchased the gift cards and received and made unauthorized payments from town funds. She said no records were kept as to how the gift cards were spent or used. In response, the Town put out a statement from Attorney Justin S. Pierce of the firm Pierce Coleman. He said the matter had already been resolved. “The accounting issues associated with the gift cards were presented by the Town’s auditors in a public meeting ... a full seven months ago in February 2018.” Pierce said. “The matter was fully vetted and explained at that time.”
