Rams Sign Faulk to Seven-Year Deal
ST. LOUIS (AP) _ The St. Louis Rams and holdout running back Marshall Faulk have agreed to a seven-year deal worth about $45 million, team sources told The Associated Press.
The sources spoke on condition they not be identified further.
The Rams have called a 4 p.m. EDT news conference to discuss Faulk.
Faulk was the league’s leading all-around back last season with Indianapolis, when he rushed for 1,319 yards and caught 86 passes.
The Rams acquired Faulk for draft picks two days before the NFL draft in April, knowing that he wanted to renegotiate his contract. He had two years to go on a contract he signed as a rookie that would have paid him $2.2 million in base salary this year.
Faulk attended an early minicamp but has been holding out since, and has not participated in the Rams’ training camp in Macomb, Ill. The Rams play their first preseason game Saturday against the Oakland Raiders at the Trans World Dome. It was not immediately clear if Faulk would play.
